    Wehrmann's sale

A quick glance at the offering in Wehrmann's sale catalog shows about 75% of the offering to be POTENTIAL DD carriers. Is this going to adversely affect the sale?

    Missouri Futurity Sale

Does anyone have the results of the Missouri Angus Futurity sale? Thanks

    SydGen Sale

JSCUNN Didn't you buy some. I thought I saw your name up there on the screen. I also thought the bulls looked very good and sold well. I thought the females didn't sell as well as the males. I noticed one sale was to a person in Alaska. That's a long trip for cattle!

    SydGen Sale

I attended the SydGen sale on 11/21/09. I was impressed with the quality of the sale. I thought the sale price on females was down from previous years, but bulls seemed to sell pretty good. My main purpose on going was to view some of their AI bulls that I am considering using. I was very...

    Midland Bull Test

Wisteria Farms I found my sheet on the Pfizer MVP upgrade pricing for animals previously tested. 1-24 animals was $25 each, 25-249 was $20 each. Offer was good until 6/1/09.

    Midland Bull Test

I either got my notification by e-mail or mail. Can't remember. I seem to have a lot of trouble with Pfizer's website. A lot more than the old Bovigen website.

    Midland Bull Test

Yes Pfizer Animal Genetics is offering a steep discount to upgrade gene results previously tested under the star system. I forgot how much it was but I think about a 65% discount. It was good for a limited amount of time. The only downside I can see with the new system is that individual alleles...

    Sale barn weight discrepancy

I know my scales are fairly accurate. I calibrate them myself, not legally binding. I just use them for my own use. I guarantee anyone that looked at the two cows side by side would say there was a significant weight difference. I had also weighed her in the past and got about the same weight. I...

    Sale barn weight discrepancy

I recently took two older cull cows to the sale barn. I ran them across my scales. One weighed 1565 and the other one weighed 1270. I dropped them off and left. When I got my check in the mail, they had one at 1210 and one at 1250. I called and asked about it and basically was blown off. I think...

    Sunny Valley Dispersal

Looks like another large angus breeder is dispersing. The Illinois division of Sunny Valley is set for last of Feb. May be some good buys available.

    Missouri sales

If the heifers weigh as much as the cows they will probably bring a decent price as slaughter heifers. Last couple of weeks they were $75-80 cwt. Cull cows will probably be in the $35-45 cwt range. Price on the heifers will depend upon quality. Which market is she palnning on taking them to?

    sold calves

Selling direct to a local buyer is a good idea. It is usually a good deal for both buyer and seller. The buyer gets an advantage in that the calves are not co-mingled with others at the sale facility. I recently sold a few head of registered calves that I was culling. Averaged 540 lb and got a...

    Basin Angus Ranch Sale

I have watched some of the sale on RFD-TV and was surprised at the prices being paid for most of the bulls. There were some good bulls but just by the appearance on TV, it appeared there were a lot of so-so bulls bringing $2-5K.

    SydGen Sale

Anyone attending the SydGen sale on Saturday 11/22/08. I was planning on going if it time permits. I think they have "honest" cattle. They don't get real fancy just good solid cattle. I noticed they had quite a bit of 1680 in their cattle and was wondering how they were going to handle the sale...

    Quaker Hill Farms Auction

I watched some of the auction. I agree that most of the cattle looked pretty sorry. But they also brought sorry prices. Seemed like it was not a very well run sale either especially for anyone who was bidding based on the telecast. Maybe it would have been better if I had the sale book in front...

    Large breeder sales

I attended a sale at one of the large angus breeders last year. I was interested in a couple of animals. One of the cows I was interested in looked good and had a good pedigree. I was going to bid a max of $5,000. A couple of other people kept bidding and the animal finally sold for $7,000. The...

    Hyline Angus Auction

Results of this sale just posted on AAA. This year bull average was $2183 vs $2580 or so last year. Seems like most bull sales are depressed this year vs last year.

    Hyline Angus Auction

I just caught the last 20-30 bulls that sold. Some were as low as $1350, many around $1500, most all under $2,000. Don't know how the earlier bulls sold.

    Sydenstricker Sale

I attended last years sale and hopefully can do so this year. They had some nice cattle. Just hard to justify any purchases due to the drought/hay shortage in my area. Hauling milo stubble round bales today to help ease the crunch. About 65 miles one way. Nothing closer.

    belted galloways

I attended a feeder sale this week. Someone had a 390 lb belted galloway. I was surprised at the price this animal sold for. Most back hided animals around that weight were selling for $1.30-$1.50. This guy only brought $.52. There was nothing noticeably wrong with the animal. He actually...
