what type of 4 wheeler to buy

It can get pretty hot here, but East Teaxas really has the same climate as middle Alabama or Mississippi. My Kodiak is also a "foot shifter" with a high and low range. Excellent machine! If I had it to do over again I get another Kodiak. Norris

what type of 4 wheeler to buy

I have one of the earlier models and had the covers changed under a factory recall. Stll overheated! I was told the louvered covers were to stop the gas from boiling in the carb and had nothing to do with overheating. We actually cooked the oil in the crankcase, afer a couple of week the oil...

what type of 4 wheeler to buy

Went to two different JD dealers on at least 4 occassioons each and they couldn't fix it. All they did was replace the spark plugs. ALL JD lawn mowers have Kawasaki engines. Norris

what type of 4 wheeler to buy

We had a JD 6 wheeler. I'm nothing but a JD man but this was the biggest piece of junk I've ever seen. Great for the first 12 months then the spark plugs would foul out ever couple of weeks. JD dealer finally told me the Kawasaki engine was a lawn mower engine designed to be run wide opeb and...

what type of 4 wheeler to buy

YES! EXCELLENT MACHINE! Our Kodiak has a little over 11,000 miles and still going strong. Bought a 660 and not nearly as good a machine; has no oil cooler and has a lot of cooling problems. If I'd know my Kodiak was going to run this lond, would never have bought a new 4 wheeler! Norris

    gas or diesel

I just visited with a timber man and we were driving the same make and model truck; '05 Ford F250 "heavies". His was diesel and mine the V-10 gas. He gets 16 mph around town empty while I get 15. Not much difference for the cost of diesel and the cost of the engine. My V-10 drops to 10 mph when...

    Cattle Trailers

Stay away from covered trailers! The top will rust off in a few years where the top/side seam is covered with molding.

Kubota or Mahindra - Need your opinions!

They are so light they'll beat you to death going down the driveway. About 2 hours is all I can stand in my 6800 Kubota and then I have to crawl out on my hands and knees. After 8 or 9 hours in my JD 6615 I'm tired but no worse for wear. The REAL Kubotas start with the M-110 and M-120; but they...

Kubota or Mahindra - Need your opinions!

There is the problem. My Kubota dealer convienced me the 6800 Kubota was the same as the 6000 series JD; 65 hp is 65 hp. No way! The Kubota won't develop 10 gpm hydraulics until it is at full power; the 6000 series JD will develop 10 gpm at around 1000 rpms. The frame on the 6000 Kubota is quite...

    JD 566 baler

The 566 is an excellent baler. I've got 3,000 rolls on mine and its not broken in good. If the baler is well maintained there should be nothing wrong with 9,000 bales of usage. The 566 puts up a 5x6 roll that can werigh close to 2000#. The baler has a hydraulic density setting and will put up...

Kubota or Mahindra - Need your opinions!

Not very happy with our Kubota 6800. Hydraulics are poor and it is rough as a cob. It is so narrow that you'll have a hard time straddling a 4 foot wind row. With less than 100 hours on it the resale value dropped from $28,000 to $14,000 in less than a year! Can't sell it; just keep for raking...

    belarus tractors

I have a neighbor that bought two Belarus tractors; one to use and one for parts. He now has two for parts sitting behind his barn.

    Used F250 Diesels

If you've found a good clean '84 with less than 100,000 miles and the price is right, I'd go for! Bear in mind that the International 6.9 was used in Army 2 1/2 trucks for many years before Ford put them in their pickups. They're pertty good engines and have stood up to millions of miles of use...

    Used F250 Diesels

I'm still running an '84 F250 diesel! A little rough looking now but still gets good milage; 19 mpg running empty or pulling a trailer. Does Ok pulling a 20' cattle trailer with 8 cows, but that's about it. Don't try pulling mountains with a loaded trailer etc. It's my understanding that because...

Would You Buy A Diesel LD Truck?

What is a "light duty" truck? Are we talking about 1/2 tons or something smaller like an S-10 or Ranger?

Would You Buy A Diesel LD Truck?

I have been waiting for this post! You are truly an honest man! I have the same truck, F250 HD 4x4 but with a V10. My V10 gets 14 around town and 15 to 16 on the open road empty. Not a lot of difference for the extra money!

    Diesel Trucks

Flaboy; being born and raised outside of Jacksonville it really pains me to have to agree with a Yankee over a fellow Floridian (especially an NEW YORK Yankee!) ,but you're all wet on this one. Anytime your ready!!!

    Diesel Trucks

Yes saltydawg; we did a "little pulling"; forty 300 mile round trips through the Ozarks last summer pulling a 8,000 # trailer and 15,000# of hay. We were running 30 mph uphill and only turning 3,000 rpms. Since my V10 develops its max HP (362) at 4,750 rpm, does this mean we had POWER TO BURN...

    Gator/Mule vs Four Wheelers

DO NOT BUY A GATOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bought a 6 wheel gator several years ago. Absolutely great around the farm FOR THE FIRST TWO YEARS. Then the engine started missing, took it in for repair and once again it ran fine; for a month. Repair trips started getting more and more...
