    Thanks Larry and the others that had helpful advice. As of last night the calf will at least eat from a bottle. Seems to be doing much better. Now I just need to get him to nurse his mother on his own.

    The calf is 4 days old. He was eating fine the first day and then he quit. We have been feeding him with a tube the last couple of days. The vet said he will maybe get to where the milk does not make him sick and go back to eating normally. I hope!

    Cracked Hoof

    I was told that cracked hooves generally are caused by a lack of mineral. I would contack your feedstore and see what they recommend. If you have a hoof guy in your area he can block the good side to relieve some of the pressure from the cracked side.

    I think everyone has had more than their share this year with the wet weather. My vet has me giving shots of Exceed. One shot is supposed to last 14 days. I have yet to need to treat one twice.

    Can calves get rain scald/rot?

    I had a vet tell me cattle can get it from lack of rain as well as to much rain. The case I saw the cow was sensitive to the touch and but would rub against a tree and make it worse.
