I have been in a silver/gold mining company, CDE, for about 15 years and it has pretty much sucked. Sadly, I keep buying on the dips but sell the covered calls to bring in a premium. I am fine with it getting called away as I make 12-18% in less than 60 days.

Yes, I have money in their VDIGX fund but not in their utility fund. Also have money in a mid-cap fund I believe but can't remember the ticker.

    Treasury bonds

starting at 0 and investing 10K for next 12 years at 6% I think will get you to about 178K. Maybe my calculation is wrong but that is still decent and you can't lose money on those. Never mind as I didn't include the interest from the age of 62-74....my apologies, carry on.

    Treasury bonds

Electronic bonds in TreasuryDirect You can cash a minimum of $25 or any amount above that in 1-cent increments. If you cash only a portion of the bond's value, you must leave at least $25 in the TreasuryDirect account. Redemptions are comprised of principal and interest. (In a partial...

    Could Be

Fed will most likely raise rates 0.50% in May and in June with a slight lean towards possibly a .75% hike in May. Doubt they go that high but they need to tame inflation.

Maybe "know your customer". Bought some I bonds just the other day. My gambling stocks, DKNG and PENN, are way down. I am bout ready to stop trying to pick single stocks and just go all mutual funds. But, what is the fun in that?

    Inflation and spending habits

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) measures the change in the price of goods and services from the perspective of the consumer. It is a key way to measure changes in purchasing trends and inflation. The Producer Price Index (PPI) measures the change in the price of goods sold by manufacturers. It...

    Inflation and spending habits

Went to college for a math degree b/c they didn't have engineering. I use basic math every day in my job but nothing sophisticated that I learned in college. The folks that go to a private (expensive) university for degree that doesn't pay well is usually not a good idea. PPI number that came...

    Contrarian

Bought some XOM on Friday before Saudi's response to Russia. Then bought some more Monday when it was down another 11.5% from where I bought on Friday. Bought a small amount of BP this morning. Both pay nice dividends and hopefully the Russians and Saudis come to an agreement. Occidental...

    If...

Not sure I would change anything as I can't complain how things have worked out so far. I have been extremely lucky in my life. Like some have said, if you change something in the past maybe it changes the now or the future.

    You Knew it was Coming

Will this drive the cost of beef higher? Why would one continue to raise cattle in California if it costs more? This is the same state that wants to tax text messaging as well. California has the 4th largest heard of cattle at 5.51% behind Texas, Nebraska and Kansas.

Sure wish we could run over a cow per acre and not have to worry.

    44 Farms partners with Walmart??

What happens if everyone spends their hard earned dollars chasing the next best thing to produce fancy cattle? I could try to keep up with the Jones's but in the end I doubt I would be left standing. I run cattle b/c I enjoy the perks and when that stops I will sell the cattle and keep the land...

    Teacher fired

Lots of people in society think that the school should be the ones raising the kids. Parents think just b/c a write-up goes into an elementary kids file that it follows them throughout life so they fight that to the end. Oh, and it is hardly ever the kids fault.

    Land vs Stock Market

I will give you all some good stock advise....whatever I say, short the stock.

    Land vs Stock Market

Strictly money purposes I agree with Brute but there is also something to say about owning land. Especially if it is big enough to enjoy other things. Those might be hunting, camping, farming or just getting away. One does get to right off the interest and farm expenses on taxes.

    Land vs Stock Market

Neither land nor stock market appreciate at the same rate as inflation. It could be more or could be less. Just found this article that states that the average farm real estate valueincrease by 20% from 1997 to 2002 and then from 2002 to 2007 it was 44%. https://www.ers.usda.gov/amber-waves/20...
