    Show Prospects

Keren, I wish I lived in Australia sometimes, I bet I could help out some. I've shown a time or two ;-) I'm afraid it's a whole different ball game in the hair/fitting/clipping deal over there though. I'm used to clipping a calf for over ten hours and then gluing them to the 9's, with building...

    Murray Greys to critique

Leave it to a Spry's female to win....their Stars and Stripes bull has made a pretty good impact here in the States. What's the difference between Australian Shorthorn, Beef Shorthorn, and Shorthorn? We only have Beef and Dairy varieties here.. Again, nice set, would LOVE to see a few MG...

    Murray Greys to critique

I like all of the heifers, but as I was scrolling down, and before I knew which heifer won, I had her picked. That Rosita heifer is flat good as far as I can see in the pictures. Very nice lines, good amount of bone for a heifer, really deep, and is just really cool looking. I would take her...

Give me some opinions of this heifer.....

I definitely don't mind seeing some more thickness in a bull's neck, it's part of him being masculine. I guess it's just a matter of preference, but I prefer a more feminine fronted female, but hey, whatever works for you..I don't know that I could make money at this if I were raising...

Give me some opinions of this heifer.....

TN and Knersie- I agree that she could be a little deeper, but she was just weaned two weeks ago, and hasn't beed fed much. Her momma was a first calf heifer too. Not an excuse, just an explanation. TN- I have seen that you like ALL animals thick through the neck....thickness in the neck...

Perfect Timing x Hoosier Hot Shot April heifer calf.

    Smokey Heifer

Thanks for all the replies everyone, and yeah her biggest fault is her slope from hooks to pins, but she is growing more hair every day, and I hope it won't be too noticeable by the time I show her. I don't have trouble growing hair, even in the summer. I actually think I'm going to show her...

    Smokey Heifer

This year is the first year for a Lowline show at the NAILE. She's registered % Lowline. CPL- She's actually out of a bull called General Sherman that TJ Stenger owned. She does slope just a touch, but she's full Aussie blood on her sire's side (any Aussie will tell you that some slope will...

    Smokey Heifer

LOL, nah she wasn't AI'd, but her sire is an AI sire. Not all Lowline bulls in the US are like the original imports from Australia. Her sire is pretty small, even for a Lowline, at 44 inches, and her momma isn't a HUGE cow, but she's not small either. She's my first Lowline, and she's a bit...

    Smokey Heifer

This is a heifer that I am going to show at the American Royal and NAILE this fall. She is a 1/2 Lowline out of a Comm. Char. cow. She's a September 27th. Let me know if she's worth taking out....

Take a Whack at my Shorthorn heifer.

Oh, I understand why you're pointing out her faults...I precisely asked you to. I really don't take offense, as long as I can see where you're coming from, for future reference ;-) I like this calf alot more too, and I will be showing her a whole lot unless someone comes along and offers me...

Take a Whack at my Shorthorn heifer.

Farmwife-thanks for letting me know what you think of her. She's consigned to a sale in Macomb, Illinois to take place the first weekend in March. The auction is sponsored by the IL Shorthorn Assn. I don't think we'll show her, but I think she could be a good show heifer for someone else...

Take a Whack at my Shorthorn heifer.

hey thanks for letting me know exactly what you liked and didnt like. I agree that she could have a better front all around, she's even a bit twisted off the front legs. I really hate making excuses for my heifers, but this one really doesn't have a high tailhead at all, she just wouldn't put...

Take a Whack at my Shorthorn heifer.

Alright guys, it's time for another calf to be rendered useless again lol I'm just kidding...I really do want your opinion of this heifer. She is an April 07 out of a Goldmine 2109 bull that we raised, and out of a Kool x Warhorse cow. We know that she's not the best show heifer to ever walk...

    Bull?

Red Headed Stepchild- Midget White Chocolate-out of Alias and not as good Alias- good, but he can booger up the front ends Cherry Bomb- Decent calves, might make them a little too straight, and he is kinda small Blue Blood- Don't get me started Heatwave- Too many cripples Soo..after I...

    Taming a 2month old Heifer?

Just stay calm and patient with her, and she should come around in time. Staying calm is one of the most important things to remember when you work with young cattle. They spook easily, and will respond to gentleness much better and faster than brute force.

    Limousin Heifers Pictures

Looks like it...it doesn't look like they have much of a choice. Just do your best and wear two pairs of clean undies!

Is it Just Mine or are all bulls this way!

You know, I reckon that not too many of these bovine critters have a whole lot in the brains department. My steers are usually pretty good about everything until they get about a year old, then they get all stupid on me. Heifers freak out for no reason and are pretty much scared of everything...

    Everyone Please Help

At the risk of sounding like a total greenhorn..what is Muelsing? If it is related solely to the rearing of sheep, I will feel a little better. You Aussie's do thing's a little different, but you sure can raise some functional animals!

    Eclipse anyone?

If you want to stouten your calves up and put musle and hair on them, I would use Perfect Timing. He is a full sib to X Ray, only he is TH and PHA clean. We have a heifer out of him, and she is good. She was 81 lbs at birth and has just really taken off. I would use him on heifers. I would...
