    Cattle Trailer

I have a 20footer and my only regret is that it is not a wide model. However, my narrow model seems to line up perfectly with the fenders on the dually. 24' is my next step and I will see how a wide model lines up with the fenders on the ole dually.

Trailer floor boards starting to rot?

Thanks for the responses. I have some oil just for that purpose, because the deck stain did not last very long. I will replace these rotten boards with some pine.

Trailer floor boards starting to rot?

I have a Stoll trailer with 2inch thick oak boards and two of the boards are starting to rot on the ends where the wood sits on the metal frame. The cattle are starting to chip the wood and it is spongy. Has anyone replaced flooring on one of these trailers? How often can I expect the oak...

    Finishing crop

What crop would you plant for a steer to graze in the summer and be finished on grain in the fall? I was thinking about red river crabgrass, brown top millet, or maybe sudex. My primary concern is Flavor. Does it even matter? Will you be able to taste the difference? Does a steer taste the...

Deal or no deal on this herd

Deal. It's not like you are getting married. If things are not working your way, sell the herd and keep the experience.

    BREAD

I feed them Bread, Bagels during the winter time as a treat. The wrappers are a bit troublesome, but I guess it's worth the time and effort. I usually fill the truck-bed up with bread and then empty the bread in the barn for storage. When I want to feed them, I just go get what I want unwrap...

    Anyone feeding corn gluten?

Greatgerts- Located in NC. A friend started a microbrewery and he gives me the grain. The cows really polish off the mineral when they are eating the WBG.

    Anyone feeding corn gluten?

cowhand- I feed wet brewers grain and also notice an increased intake in the minerals once they start to eat a batch of the wet brewers grain. Don't know if it is a problem, but I have been feeding the WBG for about a year and have not seen any acute visible health problems with the cows. I just...

    Best fencing for feedlots?

Just constructed one out of corral panels and 6X6's cemented in the ground with bull gates for the entrance. The guard rail would be awesome if you can get your hands on some.

    Grass fed opportunity ?

I am also about to do a partnership. My partner has a grain supply and wants me to fatten up some calves for home grown beef. My plan is to sell him the beef at a wholesale price and let him charge a retail price or whatever he can/and/or is able to charge for the beef. I don't care what he...

    Sale Barn lesson learned

I followed up with a call to the sale barn thinking it was a mistake, but they claim there was one heifer that sold for .23cents. She was healthy, someone just got a good deal and I was on the wrong end.

    Sale Barn lesson learned

I have read posts on the forum before about getting docked at the sale barn for a skinny and/or long legged calf, but I had no idea it was going to be this bad! Just last week I sold a single BWF 768# heifer for .78cents a pound $599.04 A week later my solid black skinny and tall legged...

    Feeding wet brewers grains?

TexasBred- Sorry for the confusion! Let me see if I can explain myself better... I get a batch of wet brewers grain from the brewery and the brewmaster tells me that there is 500lbs of barley in the load. However, he has "wetted" the barley down by making beer and I have no idea what it weighs...
