Calving ease is one of their major traits. We breed all our heifers back to Red Poll bulls with no issues. They just lay down and spit out a calf.

I would use a Red Poll bull.....you wouldn't have to worry about calving and you can count your money on the way to the bank from those cross bred calves.

You saw two people that they were taking bids from and one ended up as the highest bidder. What you don't know is .....did he really buy the bull?......was he a plant to make things look good?.....did the bull even sell?........too many things happen that we don't know about.

The bull is only half of it. If your cows don't give enough milk it doesn't matter what breed of bull you use.

So the question is: Why wouldn't a commercial cattlemen raising cattle for beef not want to breed his cows to a bull that carries two copies of the myostatin gene? Would this not produce an offspring that will have the optimal carcass hanging on the rail?

Is anyone familiar with double muscled cattle in other breeds besides Piedmontese or Belgian Blue?

I would suggest Red Poll. We live in Bartlesville and I think if you came by and saw our cattle you would see why. The are very easy fleshing
