Anybody found a "best way" or tool/machine design to remove frozen Net Wrap from Round bales?

I've got a hay barn now but before I had that I would set aside a week's worth of hay and cover it with a tarp, that would usually get me through the winter without having to feed haysicles. With the amount of hay you're feeding it would take a good sized tarp.

    Gravel driveway/loadout area

Fabric is well worth the money, I can tell right where I started using it on my driveway, without fabric the dirt will slowly work its way up and it constantly needs more gravel.

    Bushhogged hay

I don't see why it would be a problem, be best to run a tedder over it.

    Tedder talk.

A Tedder will work excellent on ss, can't imagine putting up dry ss without a tedder. Tilt it down as close to the dirt as possible without hitting the dirt. Also no need to run 540 rpms, I usually run mine at 350 to 450 RPMs just depends if I like how it's spreading it out. I generally ted...

    KY-31 and Spraying

Yes it all recovered, thinner areas took longer. I also sprayed some long established fescue at the same time and it never fazed it.

    KY-31 and Spraying

Couple years ago I sprayed some 6-8 in tall new seeding fescue and it set it back quite a bit. It turned pale and didn't grow much for about 2 months. I was using pretty close to maximum dosage. Had a sprayer guy tell me I would probably been all right if I would have dropped the dosage to a...

    Hay baling rates

I have a similar size baler (4x5), and I have never bailed for anybody else but recently I was asked how much I would charge. I did not have an answer. Fence what size bale were you making?

    Tire Recall

Got two pickups and a car all with Coopers on them, none of them are on the list though. I've worn out quite a few sets of coopers, always had good luck with them. not real excited about Goodyear buying them out.

Dealing with net wrap in winter

It's not easy getting in and out with a New Holland that is why I like to use the tractor anytime I can. But when the mud gets deep that track loader will go anywhere. Something I have done is stab the bale as high as I can and raise it a foot off the ground, then you can swing the door wide...

Dealing with net wrap in winter

I've also rolled them in the pasture with the loader till the ice was broken up but that don't always work. Here's one thawing in the garage overnight, nothing beats a covered bale though.

Dealing with net wrap in winter

A hay barn is the ultimate solution but before I had that I would cover a few bales with a tarp and only use those on icy days.

    Harvest Walnut

Around here (Central Missouri) you cut the trees buck them up and lay them in a row. The walnut buyers will come out scale them and give you a total price. They will pay you on the spot if you accept their offer. As others have mentioned there is a huge price spread on walnuts. As with most...

    Moisture in round bales?

I bailed some sorghum sedan at 25% moisture, trying to beat the rain. I checked the temperature every day for a couple weeks 129° is the highest I saw. Only fed one bail so far didn't see any mold but it was a little dusty cows loved it and cleaned it up I will add I kept the bales 4x4 and not...

    CFAP

Thanks for the reminder. I called the local office Nice gal there emailed me everything I needed so after I fill it out and drop it off supposedly I'll be set. Originally I understood that over 50% of your income had to come from livestock to qualify. Not sure where I got that from. I'm...

My cattle don't seem to like minerals

Sounds to me you have a problem of old mineral not tasting good, having sat out for what sounds like months the salt is long gone there for it doesn't taste good. Putting out smaller amounts weekly or even daily would probably solve your problem
