    Got results of blood tests. No liver problems. Very low protein level which is indicitive of Johnes according to vet. With a week to consider the options, she is at the sale barn today.

    I have a vet coming today to check her. I'll post again after his visit. In regard to other cows, I have 15 cows and 8 calves at present. All other cows healthy and look good. All the others who have had calves this season have rebounded well.

    An experienced cattle farmer helped me pull the calf. His suggestion was to give her until tommorrow, but he didn't think the prospects were good that she would get up. Large animal vets are few and far between here and if you can get one at all.

    lump under calf's ear

    I have an 8 month old calf which has developed a lump about 2 inches under her right ear. It's not general swelling, just a lump about twice the size of a golf ball. The calf eats/drinks fine, is active, not losing weight. Any ideas? Thanks.
