    Show Prospects

Keren, I wish I lived in Australia sometimes, I bet I could help out some. I've shown a time or two ;-) I'm afraid it's a whole different ball game in the hair/fitting/clipping deal over there though. I'm used to clipping a calf for over ten hours and then gluing them to the 9's, with building...

    Murray Greys to critique

Leave it to a Spry's female to win....their Stars and Stripes bull has made a pretty good impact here in the States. What's the difference between Australian Shorthorn, Beef Shorthorn, and Shorthorn? We only have Beef and Dairy varieties here.. Again, nice set, would LOVE to see a few MG...

I like all of the heifers, but as I was scrolling down, and before I knew which heifer won, I had her picked. That Rosita heifer is flat good as far as I can see in the pictures. Very nice lines, good amount of bone for a heifer, really deep, and is just really cool looking. I would take her...

Give me some opinions of this heifer.....

I definitely don't mind seeing some more thickness in a bull's neck, it's part of him being masculine. I guess it's just a matter of preference, but I prefer a more feminine fronted female, but hey, whatever works for you..I don't know that I could make money at this if I were raising...

Give me some opinions of this heifer.....

TN and Knersie- I agree that she could be a little deeper, but she was just weaned two weeks ago, and hasn't beed fed much. Her momma was a first calf heifer too. Not an excuse, just an explanation. TN- I have seen that you like ALL animals thick through the neck....thickness in the neck...

    Smokey Heifer

Thanks for all the replies everyone, and yeah her biggest fault is her slope from hooks to pins, but she is growing more hair every day, and I hope it won't be too noticeable by the time I show her. I don't have trouble growing hair, even in the summer. I actually think I'm going to show her...

    Smokey Heifer

This year is the first year for a Lowline show at the NAILE. She's registered % Lowline. CPL- She's actually out of a bull called General Sherman that TJ Stenger owned. She does slope just a touch, but she's full Aussie blood on her sire's side (any Aussie will tell you that some slope will...

    Smokey Heifer

LOL, nah she wasn't AI'd, but her sire is an AI sire. Not all Lowline bulls in the US are like the original imports from Australia. Her sire is pretty small, even for a Lowline, at 44 inches, and her momma isn't a HUGE cow, but she's not small either. She's my first Lowline, and she's a bit...

    Smokey Heifer

This is a heifer that I am going to show at the American Royal and NAILE this fall. She is a 1/2 Lowline out of a Comm. Char. cow. She's a September 27th. Let me know if she's worth taking out....

    high priced funnel butt

Doc, please make note that BOTH animals pictured are bulls. The first one is the funnel butt, the second one is a more acceptable bull calf at the same age (as I know you are well aware). Just wanted to give you the heads up! Respectfully , SJ89

Take a Whack at my Shorthorn heifer.

Oh, I understand why you're pointing out her faults...I precisely asked you to. I really don't take offense, as long as I can see where you're coming from, for future reference ;-) I like this calf alot more too, and I will be showing her a whole lot unless someone comes along and offers me...

Take a Whack at my Shorthorn heifer.

Farmwife-thanks for letting me know what you think of her. She's consigned to a sale in Macomb, Illinois to take place the first weekend in March. The auction is sponsored by the IL Shorthorn Assn. I don't think we'll show her, but I think she could be a good show heifer for someone else...

    Favorite Pistol

Probably a Ruger single six with the CCI .22 shorts that are dang near silent. I used to get alot of wild dogs with those. They would get a really weird look on their face when their buddy fell down right next to them "for no reason" lol.

    Coyotes

We go out in full camo, at one of three times. Early morning, set up like kinda like you would if you were turkey hunting, only you bring a .223 and .243 instead of the ol Mathews or shotgun. You can go out about an hour before dark and set up, but bring a spotlight. Then, you can go out at...
