    ? bout free martin?

Katie: on a practical basis, a freemartin is sterile. That is why neither Fire Sweep nor I was following CP's logic. The genetic state of a freemartin heifer is XX - normal female mammal but they also exhibit chimerism which means there will be cells that exhibit the XX/XY compliment. There...

    ? bout free martin?

Correct me if I'm wrong but if she was able to Have a calf wouldn't she be like any other heifer and not hot have the Y chromosome? After all isn't that what they are testing for in the Freemartin test?

    ? bout free martin?

It is my understanding that in order to be a embryo split they would be identical twins which would mean same sex. From my research Freemartins have to be the result of 2 separate embryos that's placental membranes end up joining/sharing around day 40. I would figure that would explain why...

    Pregnancy Testing

I use biopryn also. They have to be at least 28 days post breeding and if they are lactating cows they must also be 73 days post calving according to www.biotracking.com

    twin calves...a week apart ????

Opposite sex twins are always fraternal. Any heifer born twin to a bull is most likely going to be a freemartin, but you can always have her tested to be sure.

    Early bred heifer/Lutalyse

More than likely she was too far along for the lute to work and she is actually getting ready to deliver a full term calf.

Thanks! Might wait for their second calf to breed to a brahman to be on the safe side. Do some of you that deal with jerseys have any recommendations on a "Good" jersey bull I could AI these girls to for their 1st calf? I normally get my Semen from Bovine Elite, but they don't have a good...

It seems like a crazy reason to me considering my husband is grown and his dad (who raised him) adopted him so child support or back support wasn't an issue and you can will your things...
