    Blatant breed advertising

Polledbull. I know its not hard to find a good red limousin bull. However many people put alot of emphasis on a certain bull being black or even homozygous black. I know a limousin farmer who keeps black bulls back just so he gets potential buyers to his farm. Once the customer gets there...

Good muscle on those calves. Nice to see some good red limousin bulls.

    Is this viable

We bale corn chaff and soybean chaff. We feed it to our mature beef cows over the winter. Never tried feeding only chaff though. We supplement with haylage.

    Crossbreeding can help dairy herds

I would be willing to put any herd of well managed holsteins against any herd of crossbred dairy cattle in the United States. Put them in identical barns with identical feed, breeding and health protocol. I would be willing to wager the Holsteins will be far more profitable.

How do your repeats work. The first year we used them we used them each twice. The last two years repeats seemed to work poorly. Our vet said he thinks the manufacturer may have made them a little less "potent". This way they could make some extra money. Just wondering. They work great...

What to do with an ugly bull

Does he have a good pedigree? You'll have to tell me because I am pretty unfamilar with Red Angus. He sure has some great scrotal growth. I think you could find someone who would be happy to buy him. If you don't feel comfortable selling him I would bet he would taste great. We butchered an...

    Having a bad day?

If it wasn't for all the money spent I would laugh a lot harder at the second to last one. I laughed pretty hard though.

JT, Do you get a lot of cows that are "black" but look more brown? We have some that are that way. Most are jet black, but a few are more brownish, yet not red. Congrats on the new calf.

POLL: Why Do You Have Cattle

My uncle milks about 200 goats. Now my dad thinks that would be great fun and profitable. Hang out with 200 goats for awhile. Then go back to the cattle. That is why I have cattle.
