    If old genitics

My thoughts exactly. The Argentinean wouldn't take those good cattle because of black tail hair. lol And pigment and spots on their faces. They need to take a look at some of the paintings of some foundation Herefords from England in the 1800's. And when I see pictures of some of those...

Doc, sorry to hear of your health issues.

    Hereford bull

I don't care what you feed him, his bull won't ever look like that. Sometimes a lot of feed can hide poor genetics, but it won't fix it. I'm not sure where the "$3500" price came from, but there are decent Angus, Hereford, Limi and other breed bulls out there for less than that. If you just...

    Hereford bull

"Funny thing is, someone is going to make money off the calves. Calhoun is going to make money off the cows. And that's why we do what we do." "The only time you are ever doing wrong selling cattle is when you advertise it as something other than it is. Nothing wrong with breeding a sorry bull...

    Horned Hereford -vs- Polled Hereford

Some might answer that question with a statement you won't like. For instance, that is the only way a polled bull can get many cows bred, either in an AI lab or a 2 acre lot standing around the hay feeder, where the horned bulls can be found out on the range. And if your grandfather liked #3...

    AAA

You beat me to it. Most of those breeders who bred and "showed" the low bellies of the 50's, the 8 and 9 frame freaks of the 80's aren't in business any more, kind of like the emu breeders of the 90's. Nothing but a fad, not the real beef business. And I would bet a steak dinner that a lot of...

I heard a rumor that Angus Association let go some staff and fieldmen last week? Is that true?

    MARC Trends

I think the whole article is an Angus advertisement. When was this written? Its like the guy has stepped out of a time capsule unaware of the changes made in the cattle industry the past 10-15 years. 1000-1200 lb. steers?? Some of his thoughts seem a little out dated. He is talking about...

    Black Hereford Stock Update

Its the same kind of thinking/marketing that gets someone to pay $600,000 for a bull. Some day that hangover called reality will set in.

    Boyd Masterpiece- Hereford

Definitely has been fed well. Looked decent until he started walking. If he has to cover much ground or cows, he may not last too long on those back legs and feet. I have seen that issue in some other cattle with similar top side pedigrees. Looks like the few progeny he has are below avg...

    Hereford??

Depends on genetics. I know of several feedlots who want Hereford and baldy feeder calves because of their good feed conversion. A valuable trait considering the cost of feed.

    Hereford??

Temperment, fertility, quality carcass and eating experience, efficiency in the feed lot. All coming from a cow that can survive, thrive and raise a quality calf in a variety of climates and living conditions, with out a lot of extra supplement, large amounts of feed and a pile of silage. There...

    American Black Hereford Association

I don't care if they want to use the "Hereford" name. But some of their claims are a little questionable at this point, considering their limited gene pool and looking at some of the cattle pictured in their ads. I also question the hide color push when some of my red baldies perform as well...
