    What a problem to have!

Thursday Had 6 watching a cow from 20 yards or less. Cow starting labor small water bag (softball -size) present. Calf born half hour later. They made fly over right after birth. See them more on calving days. Them things are smart they pick out labor starting quickly. I've been watching them...

    Charge for hauling?

Going rate is 3 dollars loaded mile. Not making much at that. Most people feel like you are doing them a favor.

Will vultures eat a live calf?

Have mexican vultures in Indiana last few years. Not as many Turkey vultures as used to be. Hear of a few people have trouble with the mex not so much the Turkey. Coyote get blamed most time. Seem to see larger colonies along the Ohio river.

Yeah Warsaw is the closest Owenten is on the way to stockyards. Checked fertilizer prices last time I got minerals seemed cheaper than last year.

building a hay shed. how tall?

Don't have a hay shed myself (on the list) taller should be better. Watch for hardware in the telephone poles if they are used.

How do you feed your hay rolls?

Hay rings used 90% of the time here. Try to move every few days to give calves a dry spot. Will unroll a few when ground is frozen solid. 1000 # bale of grass hay sells 25--45. Can see the benefits of bale grazing or hay shed just have other improvements (what a list that is) that need done...

    Width of Stock Trailer?

6'8 would be better. 20 footer will be real handy. Good trade or resale value. Your f250 will tow either. WW makes good trailer. Hauled from factory back in early. 80's

    Lost one

Sorry to hear that you lost one. I guess my average is about 1 every year and half. It just happens sometimes. Last four have been lightning ,cherry leaf, break through ice and drown, and a bull I had leased to neighbor that got metal. (Pushed up old fence rows.) Vet treated him day before he...

    Opinions on minerals

Loose mineral is way to go. Squeeze your dollars in other areas. Will help with a bunch of problems. Essential for good herd health. I prefer to spend on mineral rather than excess veterinary calls.
