    Gooseneck ball/hitch

You can buy the factory ball from the dealer or the Curt version on Amazon or at Rural King, etc. As pictured above the Curt version is about $100 cheaper than my dealer was.

Pros and cons on 4 and 5 year olds.

I know every area is different and every producer is different but for me that is too much money given current calf prices.

Bulk Feed TN / North Alabama

Pricefarm, where are you getting your DDG from locally?

    anyone else feed this ?

If you're feeding crop residue off of your own fields then some accounting must be made for the value of the nutrients removed. Very few crop guys around here bale their stalks for that reason. Still a good feed though.

Buyers, what do you look for?

Amazing what a little haircut will do for them. They get that as soon as they get back to my farm. Ha ha.

    Junk calves

Just about all the calves I buy are junk. From 300 pounds on up. I've got some 4wts from the last month that I have as low as $50-80/cwt in. I try not to buy anything sick. I've bought around 40 head of junk in the last month that averaged around 500 pounds and I'm in for around $130/cwt average...

    Dyed Diesel Fuel Off Road

The way I understand it the transfer tank only becomes an issue once they find the dyed fuel in the main tank. Then the transfer tank becomes a fine as well.

Is the money ever really lost?

If you have something worth $100 and it decreases in value by $50, you have lost 50% of your investment, realized or unrealized. It would then take a return of 100% to get back to the original value. If you sell and then immediately buy back in an equal $ amount, the loss is still realized as it...

Is the money ever really lost?

It is true in most markets that your investment will average out to zero or greater over a long time period. The problem encountered with buying and selling simultaneously (and most market strategies) is when the market swings down hard enough and fast enough to wipe out your working capital...

    Prices,Prices,Prices

I am buying 15-20 plain calves a week and intend to keep doing so but I'm only gonna keep them long enough to get them straightened out and as a load gets put together they are gone. Also buying 8wt bulls cheap and getting a load of them together right now. I don't plan on holding anything long...

    Prices,Prices,Prices

I consider myself a risk taker but I have not and will not anytime soon buy any commercial females for over $2,000 that do not have calf at side. It is too easy to pick around and get young bred cows or cows with calves cheap to throw money away. It may pencil out but it still doesn't pencil...

    Prices,Prices,Prices

There were some decent stock cows in the $1,000-1,200 range, mostly by the pound. Some head cows cheaper than that and some more. I didn't see any pairs but I was in and out while they were selling the head cows.

    Prices,Prices,Prices

Prices went up some through the day today at Abingdon it seemed. I was glad that I sold my yearlings in July though, and also glad I didn't load up on anything to graze this spring. I did pick up some plainer 4wts for good prices today far enough back of the money to not lose.

    Tennessee TAEP Program

I was wondering the same thing. I've been meaning to stop in the extension office and check. Thanks for the update.
