Trying to turn Herefords into Simmentals has almost caused their complete demise

Thought that sentence could not be overemphasized!

KNERSIE-

Your above statement presents the case for oversized, 'fleshy', good 'momma's having BIG SOGGY calves' well enough, with this caveat I wish to add: Increasing the size of ANY BREED of 'Momma Cows' with the rationale, or justification, being "...well, we are selling POUNDS, aren't we?..." understates the persuasion of practical, pragmatic, and mandated correct managerial practices for the goal of recognizing a PROFIT from our efforts in the beef business! "Efficiency" is the operative word in this BU$INE$$...and Big, Heavy, Frame size 7.0 - 8.0+ Cows that calve 120#+ calves are NOT efficient producers - everything taken into account which costs a loss of profits. PERIOD. It does NOT take a brain surgeon - or a rocket scientist - to add feed costs -ALL YEAR LONG!! - and realize that the profit is going down the tubes in the form of excessive feed costs and wasted efforts. (Labor)!

Not using common ordinary "horse sense" will have more to do with the demise of the cow-calf operator than the mis-use of little details here, and minor decisions there, and picky-picky little technicalities on the back 40 acres will. "Feed Efficiency and Lowering Cow weights" will spell PROFIT in anybody's Bank Book.

You just have to "Cut to the Chase"!
