[/url] Crimson clover, turnips and gulf annual ryegrass. Planted last Friday.

That's always good to see. If the weather there is like it is here, you got it out just in time before the rains came.

Dang fenceman. Just a wee investment in seed. Gutsy putting that out in weather like we are having. Course it can't come up if it's on a trailer in a barn like mine is.....

. The grass and turnips and clover are coming in ok, think I might have planted too heavy on the turnips. What's the downside to planting too heavy? Gonna hit it with about 200 lbs/AV of 9-23-30 tommorrow

You will get less bulb on the turnips if they are really close, may get some shading out of the grass and clover if they outgrow them and canopy first.

Brassicas like turnips are bad when planted too heavy in a complex mix. A pound per acre is enough if you culti pack.

The seed salesmen brag on how they are good N "scavengers". This means they sprout really quickly and your grasses in the mix turn yellow and are stunted. The only thing to do then is a good hoof massage :cowboy: to set the turnips back and recycle some N.

That's a heck of a salad. ;-)
The couple of years I've messed with turnips I've found it very easy to over do it. I wouldn't use over 1/2 pound per acre in a mix like that.

well variety is the spice of life. Lol. it would have been just oats ,clover and turnips but I couldn't find anything but plot mix.

Seed rep was in to see me yesterday. Prices taking another jump for next spring. Hay mix type seed went from $80 something a few yrs ago to 112 last spring and now talking another 12-15 a bag. I booked now to hold at the old price.
