Good by Big 12. Ohio States in.

To me the only question is whos going to be 3rd and 4th.
Will Ohio State jump FSU to number 3? If so then we know the fix is in and has been the whole time.

Maybe, it's hard to say--depends how much stomach the committee has and how determined they are to hold the course they have already set..
I still think TCU will be in--but 2 things hurt them. Playing one less game than the others and the loss to Baylor (who also played one less game because Big 12 doesn't have a championship game)
Honestly, I think Oregon will be #1--Ala #2,----- Ohio State will trade places with Baylor, FSU trade places with TCU and that's about it.
My conclusion, is it will be this:

1. Ore
2. Ala
3.FSU
4. TCU
5. Ohio St.
6. Baylor

But, on the strength of Ohio State's shutout of #13, OS could displace TCU, but I do not think so..
We'll see.
I also don't think there is any "fix" in or ever has been. I truly believe, that the committee is and always has been determined to give college football fans the best 4 based on their strengths at or very near the end of the season. What happened nearer the 1st of the season just doesn't carry much weight, except "maybe" in a head to head vis-a-vis Baylor/TCU, and losses to weak teams.

I'm sticking with what I said tho, in that order.

Conferences don't win the National Championship--a team does.
What you are saying (among other things) is, that an independent can never ever again be national champion.
IIRC, both Notre Dame and Army are still independents.
You saying neither of those can ever again be national champ?

I can't predict a committee decision, but I think a loss at home by an out of conference no body by significant margin should drag Ohio st down. Beating an over ranked Wisconsin in a weak conference isn't a big feat.

Baylor shot themselves in the foot with their out of conference schedule once they lost any game.

TCU should be in as much as Alabama or Oregon. Fl St I just can't kick out though I'm not a Winston fan, there is something to be said for 12-0.

I hope it's TCU that gets to ranked 4th and Alabama stays 1st.

Too bad it isn't an 8 team playoff, be a good year for it.

I guess it's show you opponent no mercy anymore. So once you have opponent down just stomp them in the ground because it makes you look better for the committee. To me that shows no class what's so ever. Ohio state is a good team, not dependent upon one person for the win.

1. Bama
2. Ducks
3. FSU
4. Ohio St

Big 12 and their co-champs are out

I agree and them Noles are gonna go duck hunting.

 I sure it's the noles and ducks in the rose bowl, Bama can deal with Ohio St.

Does anyone know if ESPN will televise the new rankings? I don't see it in the TV guide (no not that old magazine).

It's too early here on the left coast. I meant to say "I sure hope it's the noles and ducks"

Thanks for heads up on the tv listing, I'll look for it at 9:45 here. :tiphat:

Yeap, the committee has made it clear that you now have to stomp down your opponent as bad as you possibly can. Miss States game aginst Vanderbilt is a good example. State had several teams down bad in games this year a coach Mullens took the foot off the gas and the games would look a lot closer by the end of the game. They were criticized because of this so he blows Vanderbilt out 49 -0. Its not his way of doing things but pressure from the committee caused it with their talk adout game control and dominating. They were dropping FSU because they were coming from behind in so many games not showing enough game control to satisfy them.

Yes its blow out time in college football and I dont think thats good at all for the sport. Aren't the players supposed to be learning life lessons and sportsmanship at that age.

I don't care much at all to watch the blowout games either--and never have, but div1 teams have always played this way, and I understand it is difficult to trottle back a team on the field, especially one that is deep on offensive talent. When 2nd and 3rd stringers go in tho, and the blood letting carnage continues, it says more about the opponent than it does the high scoring team, and I've seen that happen in years past.

I do see, that the easiest exit and decision for the committee would be to drop both Big 12 teams--it would please the most people and irritate the fewest. I can live with it myself, providing the 3 playoff games are good. I may not like it, but I can accept it.

tick tock, tick tock, tick tock...........

That is a lot of it GB, the elite, top teams are very deep with talent at most positions. Look at Ohio St's third string QB, he's good enough to start at many other places. How are you going to tell a very good kid that is getting little playing time not to go in the end zone.

Nah Alan, that's not it. It's their fault ya see--those teams are just making the other teams look bad in contrast--dang overachievers are just ruining it for everyone.....We need socialism in college and highschool sports, where everyone is limited to the # of yards and points--yeah that's it--point redistribution I say--DOWN WITH THE 1%ERS Take Their Points and Give Them to the Underprivileged and Exploited Teams!!!

It won't work GB , ya see FSU did that this season gave all the teams a head start and where did that get them .........Undefeated :bang: :bang:

That's because it only involved their schedule--ya gotta do it in every sector and all conferences accross the whole spectrum..

Reminds me of a standup comic I once heard explaining how what we now call wealth redistribution should work--long before that term was even coined or openly used.

He, an infamous rounder and drunk, was of the opinion, that all the $$ in the country should be evenly divided between each and every adult person--the poorest and the most wealthy alike. When it was pointed out, that within 6 months, the same people that originally had the most wealth would most likely again have it, he said "No suh, you don't understand--I'm talkin about doin it evah Satudy night".
