What to do?

I'm at my wit's end on what to do about this and you guys
seem to have an answer for everything. Six month's ago,
we purchased a double-wide mobile home on three acres
in another county. The idea was to have a place to go to
relax when things got hectic where we currently live. We
planned to do a little work on the place and maybe, later,
retire and live there permanently.

Sounds easy enough, doesnt it? Here's the catch. Some-
one has taken a personal vendetta to see that we don't
do anything with the place. Anything we do to try to improve
the place will be undone the next time we go there. The
back door has been jimmied until it wont close, the light
fixtures have been removed (one by one...on different
occasions) and to top it all off....the commode was taken
from the bathroom!

We were told to fence the driveway and post the place...
which we did. The fence and gate were busted up within
two weeks after we put them up. The local police cannot
do anything but mention a neighborhood watch. The
nearest neighbor is nearly a half mile away.

We finally decided to sell the place before someone carries
it off piece by piece. The real estate agent who looked at
it could only tell us how much he could sell it for if it was
spruced-up a bit. Ha! Same story....second verse. How can
we repair the damage if we can't be there to guard it every
second? Any suggestions? I know....we bit off more than
we could chew. Has anyone else had problems like this?

How so if they are trespassing on private property how can they get you for negligent homicide? Thats like saying that if I am sitting on my couch and someone tries to break in through the window im supposed to wait and let em get in the house before I plant one in em? Negligent homicide hahahahahah yeah right. I dont think any jury in their right mind would see that as negligent homicide. There is no negligence about it. You didnt accidentally leave the shotgun there. You werent careless. That would be negligent. It would be a felony b&e that happened to get shot in the process. The cops will be none the wiser you can say heck he broke in here and I blasted him. Simple as that.

Ok, TTCLM, go ahead and try it sometime...see how far ya' get...probably not much farther than the other's that have tried to get away with that very same little trick...but hey, what have ya' got to lose...5-6 years, maybe...but give it a go, TTCLM...prove me wrong.

Unless your state has a "Make my day" law (and a lot of states don't), you could very well end up facing homocide charges if you kill the invader - even for someone breaking and entering. If you didn't kill the perp, you could be facing attempted homocide charges (or a myriad of other charges), plus a lawsuit for whatever injuries you caused to the perp. Check it out if you don't believe me. I've had more than one officer of the law (be they sheriff or police) tell me that if someone broke into my house and I had to shoot that individual make damn sure I killed him and put a weapon in his hand if he didn't already have one.

Ryder had a good idea with the camera's if ya can do that. Another thing is one of those alarm companies if ya have a phone line there.

Go talk to Sheriff and see if he is really interested in catching these guys. If he is then he will respond to the alarm companies call quickly.

They can't argue with pictures though.

Some years ago they broke into my shop down by the barn and took most of the tools in there. I put in an alarm system that I can here at the house 1/4 mile away. then I put up signs from an alarm company and never had another problem (knock on wood).

Maw, You need to chill out and take an online anger management class. You remind me of the feller that killed a boy here several years back for shooting a Doe across a fence. Shot the kid with an AR-15 in the head. Our great State had a field day with him.

We thought about the security camera deal. I even
checked the prices on some that people use to film
wildlife. Problem is....the creep will probably steal the
camera, too. We have found that there is no limit to
what he will do.

Get one of those 'nanny cams' that people use to spy on their baby sitters. I understand they can be made into almost anything - stuffed animals, pillows, etc. Could also incorporate it into a crack in the wall. Don't let them run you off - plus you'll never be able to sell the place !

First I would put out a hefty reward for his conviction and capture in the local paper some one would rat him out.
He might drive in but he would be walking out he would have four flats. Take some four inch square tubing cut in triangles stands with the points up and weld to a small chain across the drive in several spots. I shut down the traffic sneaking in my deer lease. Your dealing with a coward. It gets down to what are you willing to do, you can bet he is armed when he pulls in your place and he will have a buddy as that is how cowards operate. Confrontation here is not going to be pretty.

a few years ago a man broke in my cousin's house...my cousin woke up...went downstairs and the guy actually started trying to fight him...my cousin got his gun and shot the man...he got charged with murder even though the guy broke in his house AND tried to fight him...they said if the intruder doesn't have a weapon, that you can prove he was trying to use on you...then there is no case and my cousin got charged

so that aint much of an idea unless you want to be charged with murder

The only problem is that you really must catch him after you get him with something like this, because if you pop him tires or mess up his engine and don't catch him the next time he comes back he'll be mad and do more damage for revenge. But it would be dang funny to go out there and find the gas can empty. :lol:

A word of caution to jw. that is a class 1 felony. if it goes of and even causes an person to poop their pants.

TCCLM you try what you are saying and there is not a police department in the nation that will protect you!

a person walking up to your door and even opening it is at best a misdomeanor. entering the room is nothing more than a misdomeanor. if you shoot them YOU are the one that is going to be arrested! a few years ago it would have been me taking you down.
TTCLM if indeed you have a CCL i would like to see a copy of it! because you are clueless about the responsibilty of having such a license, you may pm me with a copy of it, if you do not wish to do this i can and will ask for help within the ATF which i still carry the ID. the CCL will also allow me to identify the instructor who issued said license thus allowing ATF to investigate the issuing of said license!
