What kind was it?

My father and I run a few mixed stock cows. While at the local sale, we noticed two heifers come through. They were red and quite long in the legs and down the back. They also had somewhat short faces and VERY meaty hams. I have seen this breed around now and again. What kind is it? Thanks.
