What do you feed your dogs

They closed the Coop in town so I ended up getting Pure Balance Lamb & Rice at Walmart (of all places!). Couldn't find a review of that particular one on dogfoodadvisor.com but the following link gives it great reviews and, most importantly, my dogs love it.

I'd probably feed them something cheaper if there was a decent dog food in any of the other stores close by (an hour drive to find anything other than the garbage food they sell at the grocery store here). This stuff is available at the same place we buy all our cattle supplies, so it's convenient and they do a 1 bag free every 10 or 12 bags which helps a bit. And it's made in Canada which is a bonus too!

Puppy chow for the first year and a half. FRM blue bag for yard dogs after that. Used to feed my hog dogs Sir Johns. By far the best feed I ever fed but then I couldn't find it any more. Fed Tops after that. Good feed but we would get a bad batch every now and then.

Judging from the smells that come out of my fat old queensland I'd guess country acres is quite high. :lol: Sometimes she even gags herself.

I think the breed was developed to smell bad no matter the diet! We feed raw meat as much as possible when the ground is frozen, the rest of the year we feed diamond. I started feeding it about 20 years ago, and have never looked back. I've never found dead rats in it like I had in other expensive brands....so that's a plus!

I used to feed about the cheapest dog food I could find, when I had 3 Pyrenees and a Blue Heeler. Now with my Border Collie and his skin allergy issue, I changed to Purina Beneful beef flavor. He is picky about what he eats, and it has some softer pieces which he likes.

I cringe when I see someone with a bag of Ol Roy in their cart. Haven't yet, but Is saying something a public service announcement or would that make me a jerk for sticking my nose in their business?

Doesn't matter who made it they put out bad batches that killed dogs and or made them sick. I raise hunting dogs and they are very valuable to me so I just wont use it ever again. It was labeled as ol roy

I understand but bad batchs can be found in every mfgr history. It's a byproduct food and we are talking about a dog. They eat shyt and carrion they really don't care it people that makes it complicated.

the retriever brand at tractor supply is 55# for 18.99 online it says mad by mars which makes pedigree iams and old roy . I had to pick up a back of purina dog chow in a pinch the other day and it looks exactly the same , Taste the same too so who knows. Feed what you want , I just cant see spending a pile of money so old yeller can have a gourmet meal and as soon as you go into the cow lot he is lickin a cow turd.
