I won't wean less than 205 days unless there is an issue of some kind. Actually I like to get 230 days if the cow looks to be able to handle the extra time as it maximizes the contribution of the cow to your calves' growth. My crop is my calves & anyway I can max their wieght without risking the next calf crop is in my best interest - ie more $ in my pocket. But as Mscamp says, the biggest requirement on the cow is in late pregnacy, I haven't reduced the dry period to less than 2.5 - 3 months.
