Weaning day today

What did you think about the FerAppease? Notice any difference?
I'm going to try some on Thursday.
We didn't see a huge difference than previous years. They still bawled for the first 2 days, but seamed to start eating well. They gained on average 57 lbs for 21 days on just 2nd cut dry hay and bailage. Weather was favorable and only treated one out of 53 for illness (thin and snotty nose). Not sure how much the FerAppease helped with weight gain or reducing stress. Had one nut job steer that wanted to bust out the side of the barn every time we had to work them. There wasn't anything we noticed that wowed us about it.

As an added note, our calves a pretty calm anyway. We're around them and the cows a lot during the summer and they're comfortable with us being up close and walking around them.

We weaned that little group a week or two ago that I posted about. We had the cows and calves on each side of the fence for 2 days while we finished working them. They they both bawled and stood in their fence corners. We hauled the calves to another place and it ended all that.

The faster I get the calves away from the cows the faster they quiet down, get settled in, and go to eating.

Here everyone I can think of gathers in the hills, hauls the calves away miles, and turns the cows back out. Cows stay up there for another month or two. Calves go into stout corrals for 4 or 5 days and then out into a pasture for 45 days or so.
