We're weaning Saturday. Going to try the FerAppease this year for the first time. We had to doctor a lot last year because of the wild swings in temperature the few weeks before and after separating them. Didn't loose any but the growth was less that previous years.
The neighbors asked what's in FerAppease. I jokingly said "what do you think they're doing with all that CBD oil now that cannabis is legal in the state?"
We use it for nose flapping, weaning and dehorning. Really calms them down. I use recommended dosage. Lasts 7-10 days.Weaning season has me thinking about trying Ferappease again this year. Priced it yesterday at $3 a head. The thread last year got a touch heated so I've been reluctant to bring it back up. Has anyone tried it this year? We felt like it helped last year.
We get to use the slide this year. Steers averaged over 700 lbs straight through, nobody left behind. About 35 lbs better than last year. Our big day is the 28th.
Calves look good, weights close?
What was the calving period on those calves? They look extra nice.We get to use the slide this year. Steers averaged over 700 lbs straight through, nobody left behind. About 35 lbs better than last year.
Thanks. Born March 1 to April 20What was the calving period on those calves? They look extra nice.
Any supplier or just momma and milk? We are at around 550# weaning weights here. Northern cattle always look impressive to me.Thanks. Born March 1 to April 20
They had nothing but mommas milk, grass and aspen leaves. Pretty dry up here this year, I think it makes the grass harder and they gain better. Just my theory.Any supplier or just momma and milk? We are at around 550# weaning weights here. Northern cattle always look impressive to me.
I keep that theory also. They had nothing but mommas milk, grass and aspen leaves. Pretty dry up here this year, I think it makes the grass harder and they gain better. Just my theory.
It seems calves gain better once the grass hardens off around August. Main thing is to have enough of it.I keep that theory also.
