Good luck! So far, none of my weaners have broken outta prison and the bawling is now minimal. I'm on high alert for droopy ears with the epic dust and fluctuating temps.
Weaning season has me thinking about trying Ferappease again this year. Priced it yesterday at $3 a head. The thread last year got a touch heated so I've been reluctant to bring it back up. Has anyone tried it this year? We felt like it helped last year.

We're weaning Saturday. Going to try the FerAppease this year for the first time. We had to doctor a lot last year because of the wild swings in temperature the few weeks before and after separating them. Didn't loose any but the growth was less that previous years.
The neighbors asked what's in FerAppease. I jokingly said "what do you think they're doing with all that CBD oil now that cannabis is legal in the state?"

Well they are all loaded up and gone. Kind of a relief to have it done for another year. Great help from the neighbours as per usual. Wish I had taken more pics but it's a busy time. But here is what I did manage to take.

Calves look really good. You have some da#@ed nice butts on them.... they did good on the cows on summer grass....

Just brought my cows in for the winter as we got 3" snow last nite and temps are in mid 20's. gonna seperate calves from moms in morning, not looking forward to all the bawlin tho
We use it for nose flapping, weaning and dehorning. Really calms them down. I use recommended dosage. Lasts 7-10 days.

We get to use the slide this year. Steers averaged over 700 lbs straight through, nobody left behind. About 35 lbs better than last year.
What was the calving period on those calves? They look extra nice.

Any supplier or just momma and milk? We are at around 550# weaning weights here. Northern cattle always look impressive to me.
Mine are settling in, trained to the bunk & corral. They'll be appx. 60 days weaned before I sell, which will give me time to figure out which heifers I want to keep.
There's always one that wants to climb in the bunk.

They had nothing but mommas milk, grass and aspen leaves. Pretty dry up here this year, I think it makes the grass harder and they gain better. Just my theory.
I keep that theory also.

It seems calves gain better once the grass hardens off around August. Main thing is to have enough of it.
