All of our beef calves are in the 6-7month old age. We just ran the herd through the chute last weekend to vaccinate and bull calves were cut. Would like to wean them soon but wondering how long after working them we should wait. Mostly concerned about the added stress on the calves that were castrated. There was also one heifer calf that looked off so vet checked her and she had a slight temp and slightly raspy lung sounds. She received a shot of Draxxin and now she looks good.

The weather is cooling off this next week...highs in the 50s lows in the mid 30s. Chance of rain.

What's the consensus about medicated (coccidiostat/rumensin-type feed) vs non-medicated, especially for fall weaners ?
