Up State MN People

Angie~(just figured out where that squiggley line was on my keyboard) Another idea. We bring with native foods for our friends. Things they may not be accustomed to. Such as a hotdish (with cream of mushroom soup as the binding agent) also the cholesterol buster salad(anything with cool whip as the binding agent) they may get a kick out of those or they may kick us out :P

Holy Cows! Thats an excellent idea! Did you know that in other places they call hotdish "casserole"? It makes me laugh just thinking it. I will bring bars (heard thats a foriegn word as well?). Also husband made beer this weekend. May bring some of that ~ he's kinda stingy though :(

ps ~ made chicken and dumplings this weekend ~ even dog wouldn't eat it. Maybe the ladies farther south have a trick up their sleeve for me........

hey what a coinsidance I made casserole and dumplings this weekend, made one of beef and one of rabitt, both were eaten and none left on plates, the beef one was ment for the freezer, but Son and Hubby got to it first. Cats just got a look in with the rabitt one. What are 'Bars'????

I'll start and Angie can chime in. Bars are something a diabetic would want to stay away from. Probably those with the high cholesteral too. Bars are a staple at the end of a potluck line. Angie, your turn.

When Angie fills in the gap I will know what they are, but you have already said no good for me....As I am diabetic.

Bars ~ bars are what you eat first in case you choke on my chinken and dumplings  Anyhow ~ they are desert and there are lemon bars and chocolate chip bars and rice crispie bars and apple bars and 100's more! Heavy and sweet, in a 9x13 pan. I made chocolate/caramel bars yesterday with chocolate frosting. Can do bars with ice cream or not. Needless to say, those went better than the chicken and dumplings......

Quick update gals. I have taken the liberty of "naming" our trip. How does banana belt trip 08 sound? We can modify it or change it. Also, we all need to get any health care appointments taken care of before we go. Crowder is masquerading as a dentist and optometrist. See your gp too just in case he "all of the sudden" gets his MD too. I know he is not on our route, but just in case we get blown off course somewhere.

Another thing Angie, do you think we should send some books on how to talk Minnesotan to the gals down there? We wouldn't want any lanquage barriers don't ya know.

Talk to youse later!

HA! "youse" cracks me up ~ we say that all the time ;-)
Trip name will work great ~ good of you to let peg know we are coming (:

Talking of the way people speak, do you think I might attract a bit of attention, and slow us down when people keep asking me where I'm from with my strange accent. Think I should wear a badge, or something. :help:

Compared to the rest of us, I'm sure you won't be the biggest freak in the show (: But you should definatly wear a badge. How cool would that be?

I'll wear my t-shirt...That says it all.

Ladies, January sounds iffy, but February is usually pretty nice around here before winter sets again in spring... So drive the RV past here. I can't promise ethnic food, unless Texmex is ethnic... but I have several couches, a spare bedroom and bathroom and a patio. You can hook up the RV outside. I'm grillin.

May have to get another freezer beef!

We are set Lammie. Thats all of February right? We will skedaddle on the 14th to give you and hubby some privacy ;-) Maybe go to some cowyboy bar and ride the electronic bull, drink lone star and whiskey  Texmex is ethnic to us. You use ketchup in that right?

Something we need to post in the RV:

TEN COMMANDMENTS MINNESOTA STYLE

1. Der's only one God, ya know.

2. Don't make that fish on your mantle an idol.

3. Cussing ain't Minnesota nice.

4. Go to church even when you're up nort.

5. Honor your folks.

6. Don't kill. Catch and release.

7. There is only one Lena for every Ole. No cheatin'.

8. If it ain't your lutefisk, don't take it.

9. Don't be braggin' about how much show ya shoveled.

10. Keep you mind off you neighbors hotdish.

Oh ja! didn't fink of zat. Will we need an interpreter??, I got a bit lost when you Southeners started to speak fast in the RedNeck tongue. In Florida folks kept asking me if I was Australian, don't sound nothing like Crocodile Dundee.

Had to laugh at "non tanned" ~ I'm so white you can still see me after the lights are off
Misty I read your itinerary (SP?). Sounds like a great time. I never drink out unless I'm with friends good enough to make me leave before I'm dancing on the bar :P
How very nice of Lammie to slaughter the fattened calf ~ makes it sound like an occassion indeed.
If we left right after X-mas we could swing by others on the way. This just keeps getting better!

ps ~ Chrisy, I can get you a badge, you get me a t-shirt -K?
