Maybe part of why I like the second bull a lot more. Hoss, I think your idea to use the first as a terminal bull would be the right plan. I wouldn't want any daughters from him.

Hoss did you or anyone else end up using the bodacious bull and how did the calves turn out.

Looking for a high growth gelbvieh that is homo black to ai over some cows was looking a this bodacious bull and this northern pacific bull.

I used him on some mature angus commercial cows for my neighbor. Made some really good steers. He got one heifer out of the group and she was a tank. Lots of growth even on his not so good pasture and not so good hay. Under decent conditions they should have really popped. He doesn't have scales so he didn't weigh them but I am guesstimating weaning weights in the 650 lb range on the steers. I haven't gotten around to using him on my own cows yet. I have been covered up with work and have cut back on the A.I. program for now.

I saw several of his bull offspring at the Circle M sale this past March. Very thick, muscled bull calves. Not quite as posty so I am assuming the cow helped them out in that department. Did notice that the Bodacious bull calves all had huge scrotal circumferences. Bodacious has a 45cm scrotal so I guess he passes that trait along pretty well.
 
Thanks for the info. I might take a shot with him then. Would be looking for something terminal aimed at growth and thickness so anything else wouldn't be as big a deal for me in this situation. I am playing around with trying to make a good terminal balancer bull on a couple purebred red angus cows we have. Probably wont work but thought I might give it a try, worst case I should get a big calf at least.
