How long do you bottle feed the calf?
And what are the chances of reintroducing it to the mother to see if it will let him nurse?
They are not in the same city now due to us having to bottle feed him.
Do you give them water too?

If it's going to be strictly a bottle calf we wean then at 8 weeks. We give them a good calf starter grain a little hay and water from the time they're born.
With twins I like to leave the bottle calf of the pair with the cows, catch it twice a day for it's bottle. After a copule of days it will come hunting you down for it's bottle if it sees you in the pasture. A lot of the bottle calves left with the cows become sneaky snackers and will go from cow to cow and nurse. Eventually they quit wanting the bottle because they're getting enough from the various cows.
