I wish I could remember the name of a 60s CW song that partially addressed 'the good old days'. The 'plot' of the ballad is that A married man, now living the good comfortable married life with a loving wife and nice home is visited by an old friend (a presumed lifelong bachelor) & they begin talking about the times they spent together in their youth. Married guy begins to miss those good free roaming days and is just about ready to take off with his old pal, when (near the end of the song), old pal has the good conscience to remind married guy of the many extreme hardships they also endured.
About the only line I remember from it..
"Don't you remember the cold days up in....."
