I need Help!!!! We have a Highland Calf.. He has been wonderful, but he has had the runs. We thought it was him adjusting to a different field and feed. However, he always ate his range cubes. Today he will not even eat those. He is losing weight and we are very worried. His coat and eyes still look good, but he gets skinner by the day. My question is do calves loose thier baby teeth like horses???? Please help we are new at cows, but have alot of other animals Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Thanks,
Genny

To answer your question, yes they lose their baby teeth. But not as a calf. Starting with the first set of incisors (middle pair) at about 16 to 18 months. Follow through on the vet.

They loose the baby teeth starting at 16-18 months and finish the process by about six...after that you just guage the wear to determine approxmate age...and wear has alot to so with the diet.
Get some Kao Pectin in that calf...may need electrolites if it has had the scours for a few days.
