Why are your cows up in your stacked hay like that?

We had about 3 feet of snow the first week in March. We've had 4 day's of 50 degree temps. No chance of a dry spot in the pastures. Close cows get extra privileges, Dry spots around hay storage areas make a good places for them to calve. So far so good. I Lost 1 calf but got a nice set of twins.
