Our one grandson is finishing his 2 year degree and then will go on to state trooper training to be an officer this summer. While at college he has a position in campus security. A few days ago he was called to the campus cafeteria as a lady there would not or could not pay for the food on her tray. This same lady has a bill already at the cafeteria. The cafeteteria has the right by law to refuse service to people for cause. When our grandson arrived she refused to be escorted out of the cafeteria. He then took her out of the area by her arm carefully. She took his badge number and now is charging him with I don't know what but because she is black she claims discrimination. So there will be an investigation and already the paper work has started. I just want your thought. thanks farmguy

....because she is black.... I just want your thought.
My thought is everything was handled in a professional and lawful manner.
My 2nd thought is you have a problem with black women.... otherwise you wouldn't have felt the need to mention it.

It was pivotal to the story. Other wise, no descrimination.

No it says she is charging him with... I don't know what
So everything else is only idol speculation... as discrimination would be listed in the charges...
but obviously poster doesn't know what she is charging.

Whoa there fella. That is incorrect. The thrust of this message was to illustrate the predicament that our officers face. I could mention the fact that I have 4 African American nieces and a Korean grandson but that is not relevant. I do very much resent your stereotyping of me. The concern is for our police officers and the fact is many complaints are race related as you well know. Why the need to go negative? farmguy

None of us can speak to the unknown. The only detail to discuss is the potential discrimination.

Seems more like concern for a grandson that has been charged with I don't know what.

As I stated appears everything was handled in a lawful and professional manner
She has the right to complain... (IF he dislocated her elbow ect. I don't know what...)

I don't know what leaves everything open for prejudging and gossip and you are the one that brought race into it
when you clearly stated you don't know what she is charging, but felt the need to add that the woman was black.

As someone who did the security bit while in university, I understand his situation. Should be protocol that two security officers respond to a call, to avoid these BS issues. Never underestimate what even an 'innocent' farm girl, with a few drinks in her, will be willing to do to get out of a tight situation. Working in security shows you the real side of people - real eye opener.

As I clearly stated she claims discrimination. No I do not know the wording of the complaint. I was told the discrimination claim was based on race. Remember I said "carefully" took her out of the area. Why the need to attack me when I related an incident. Who is PREJUDGING?

" What predicament is that? That officers are accountable for their own actions while on duty? Heaven forbid!"

This is a simple case and no blood wes spilt. Too often an officer has a second to make a judgment call. That call may involve life and death. As a veteran I do know this. The officer may not know if the gun is loaded, if it is real, if the individual is mentally ill or a thousand things. he may only have a second to decide. Then those who are wiser can spend months deciding what was the best course to follow. Excuse the rant but this is important to me. we have 2 grandsons in the military, one in Turkey and one in the special forces, army. Excuse MY rant. farmghuy

In these fractured/fractious times, as a student security staffer I think I would be very careful about laying hands on someone. (Was it not enough to just take the food away? Not sure why she needed evicted?). At any rate, if it went down as you said, I'm sure he will be cleared.

I feel for your grandson. That is a tough position to be in. Sounds like he did everything properly based off of what you said. Hopefully he will be cleared of any charges. He was called in to assist with a situation, and did his best to diffuse it in a professional manner. It sounds like the lady has a history there already since she owed them money from before. If she would have left when asked, he would not have been called in and had to escort her out. I was taught to listen to security/law enforcement when they tell me something. I think a lot of people aren't raised up to respect law enforcement like they should be. That's why I try to thank officers I run into for what they do and all the crap they put up with.

I think people like that should be dragged out by the hair whether white or black. I hate people abusing the system not paying for what they take.

I watch Hard Core Pawn and those big guys manhandle those actors yelling and screaming out the door all the time.

If your grandson is going to be a trooper he will go through this many times. As long as he followed protocols and was professional I wouldn't worry to much.
Butch is out of line.
The race factor is a legitimate and real concern. And probably indicates the woman was in the wrong and it's the only card she has to play

: yawning: another race baiter thread.. boring.. no need to mention particular race.. if was discrimination charge that's all one would need to say.. because you have relatives of another race doesn't mean you like them or approve. ... Next
