He looks good; he has length, width, and depth to him. He looks heavy enough boned to carry some weight as well. Pour the feed to him and good luck.

I dont know what current weight is but will Feb 12th.

Show is July 9th I hope he will weigh around 1250. He is similar to last years steer and I think will make it.

Knersie I expect he weighs some where around 600-650. He was a may calf. He has not been pushed till recently.

Just looking at the picture I am guessing him at 750# or so . He needs to be close to that now if you expect to have him at 1250 in 5 months. Please update us when you get him weighed on the 12th.

You were really close. We weighed him this morning and he weighed 740. So he is just about the right weight.Here is another pic from this morning.

He certainly has the width, length and the bone, pity he hasn't got more depth and length of muscle.

And a heifer that she insists on takeing. She was a may bottle calf last year and her pet. She has raised her so I let her do what she wants

Steer is a bit undercooked.

I believe so to. Last years was also better. But he is what he is. At least hers is broke to lead. I know several that have waited till the last minute and they are trying to break theirs still. She will not ever win at our fair with a hereford. The judges are instucted to pic a black calf to win. We might use a black whiteface calf next year.

I know the heifer pic is bad but what do you think other than light muscled. I think she will raise some good calves for her.

She's better than the steer, needs more broodiness and volume, but she SHOULD do better than the steer. Make sure to pick a very deep bull with lots of spring and length of rib next time you're bull shopping.

Nice cattle. I do agree the heifer will make a good cow for your herd just based on her looks.

jhh i know what ur talking about and u probly know who i am were in that area where if its not black it shoudldnt be on your farm but when it comes weining time there shure is alot of bladies around

You could be right about that. Some judges do look at hide color; but Knersie is also right. That steer needs more finish to win a competitive show.
