Throw away the hardware that comes with new hay rings. Buy real bolts, with large area washers, and nylon lock nuts.
Cows don't care if the "new" fence is built with previously owned post and wire, and they don't appear to give a rats behind if there are a couple green post mixed in with the red ones.
Horses are a PITA and they eat alot, but little girls love them. Donkeys are really cool.
The first time you see your 5 year old son swinging on a newly installed gate, bust his arse.
Don't bother with those hinges that come with new gates. Use them for plant hangers under the front porch.
An $1,800 53' Jubilee starts well at 5 degrees, and puts out hay just as well as a newer diesil tractor. I also like the shapely curves
Fencing pliers have hundreds of other uses. Every man needs at least 3 pair
Fencing requires a dedicated vehicle with the sole purpose of fencing only. Don't even bother unloading it.
Never drive your "fencing" truck off the place, unless you like explaining what-n-he[[ all that shyt is in the back. Inquiring minds want to know. On the other hand, it's real easy to convince the state trooper that it really is a farm truck.
Children and livestock go together very well. I can't imagine having one without the other.
At Thanksgiving dinner, you overhear your mother tell your little brother, "No, they won't be able to make it up there for Christmas. They've got cows", you know you have arrived :lol:
Don't throw away hay string. It will get used.

Cattle are the ultimate excuse to STAY HOME (or go to town :lol2: )
In a group of people, if the topic of cattle does happen to come up, someone will always ask "so, what do you do with all of them?" BTW, this is an opportune time for some very creative answers 8)
A beef in the freezer is a really good feeling
The feed store has everything, once you learn where it's at. If they don't have it, you don't need it.
A day at the sale barn is a real family treat, even if you're not buying or selling.
As I get older, I find myself sipping my whiskey drink, and I'm curious what that has to do with anything :?:
