New Rancher here, does anyone have experience with smellmelon in the pasture? I have a proliferation of this vegetation as a result of the heavy rains here in SE Texas. I have plenty of alicia and bahia grass for my cows....should I treat? Thank you in advance,

Yes, if we are talking about the same smallish vine fruit. If you open it and dig the guts out, then put globular mess into a drinking vessel and add a sprinkling of salt and sugar, it’ll taste like lemonade.

It does have some effects on your physical and psychological perception and performance.

I stepped on one the other day and it had pulp kinda like a orange or grapefruit. Never even thought of making a drink out of it...

I asked AI and his is what it came back with.
From your photo, this appears to be a wild cucumber vine (Echinocystis lobata) or a closely related cucurbit vine. It has several telltale features:

• A sprawling vine with coiled tendrils that grab onto nearby plants.
• Heart-shaped to triangular leaves with rough surfaces.
• Small yellow flowers.
• What look like young green, oval fruits developing behind the flow

yes, there is plenty of grass, including alicia and bahia

A lot of those plants have interesting uses.

We have this one growing in an area. People actually pickle them. Its amazing how much free food is out there if you dont spray herbicides on every thing.
