So, our sale is coming up pretty fast here on October 9th, catalogs are mailed already and the sale book is available online at http://www.tullyfergus.com/forsale.htm with an option to download a printable version. In addition we took some video footage of many of the sale lots and this is available on YouTube, search for Rnlgroom.

So, to highlight a few of the lots.
Lot 1 Tullyfergus Ethelred 10, (16652117) is the first of 4 Big Rok Ole 450 sons to sell and we really like this calf, born 12/27/09 with a 273d gestation and a 70lb birthweight out of a 5 year old Boyd New Day daughter he had an adjusted 205d wt. of 629lbs to ratio 101. Click on this link to see a short video of him http://www.youtube.com/user/rnlgroom?fe ... KX312xwf0Q

Lot 6 Tullyfergus Editor 90 (16656296) is pretty interesting calf, sired by Fine Cut of Wye and out of a really attractive and stout Lemmon Newsline daughter he had a 73lb bw as his dams first calf and recorded an adjusted 205 wt. o 664lbs to ratio 107. Certainly the Wye type is a little different than our mainstream bulls but he has excellent scrotal development, gentle temperament and more than adequate growth and muscle, the only area we see a weakness is in his pasterns which have a tad more give to them than the rest of his contemporaries. See what you think at http://www.youtube.com/user/rnlgroom?fe ... 6pKBS88gEg

Lot 4 is Tullyfergus Abba 50 (16652103) a 1/1/10 son of Big Rok Ole 450 out of a 5 year old Boyd New Day. This calf was our #1 weaning weight with an adjusted 205 of 707lbs and is halter broke and gentle. His grandam is the current top ranking cow in the herd with 6@ 110 and has qualified as a Pathfinder every year since she was first eligible. http://www.youtube.com/user/rnlgroom?fe ... Eh2QtfprPI

In the heifer calf division we have a couple of show prospect contenders,

Lot 13 Tullyfergus Everelda 489 (16652101) is an 11/30/09 heifer calf that our daughter Charlotte (8) showed this past summer, really nicely designed calf, clean fronted and sound feet and legs mark out this Final Answer / E161 combination (dam tested NHF), could be a prospect for the NJAS next summer in Harrisburg for the late senior yearling heifer division.

Lot 15 Tullyfergus BW Tibbie 120 (16652106) is out of a real stout, moderate framed 9 year old EXT daughter whose only previous daughter will qualify as a pathfinder this year. We like this heifer a lot, we think she will make a great foundation brood cow. She did lose the tip of her tail to frostbite. We are halter breaking calves now and she will be fully broke to lead and show by sale day. See her with her dam at http://www.youtube.com/user/rnlgroom?fe ... ZbwwlhSSk4

Lot 38 Tullyfergus Primera 330, c. 5/1/10 is a commercial smoky heifer calf sired by CF Fonzie out of a registered Angus cow by E161, the dam is NHC and we have submitted a test on the calf to determine her status. We sold a smoky last year who was shown very successfully in the junior charolais circuit. Just something a little different!! She can be seen at http://www.youtube.com/user/rnlgroom?fe ... zu-tiHMuyA

Our breeding philosophy is based upon selecting cattle to perform in their environment with no supplements, creep, crutches or excuses, the replacement females will join the main cow herd as yearlings and will remain there unless they fail to get bred or raise a calf. Any cow is only as good as their last calf. We rotationally graze from as early as possible, usually the 3rd week of April until the snow flies, can range from November til late December, and then we feed dry 1st cutting hay to the cows until at least late February when we add some 3rd cut baleage to insure good conception rates as we AI breed in late March / early April til grass time and the herd bulls go in.

The sale is at 1pm on Saturday 9th October, we welcome inquires and questions, I can be reached on 315 573-2569 or by email [email protected] anytime.

Props to Jeanne White, Simme Valley for doing our sale book, Thanks Jeanne!!
