But also a little bit mean.

Had an ambulance run today. On the way back to town our new paramedic was driving. She was doing the speed limit, but we had a car tail gating us for several miles.
When the car finally passed us she hit the siren! :lol2: :lol2:
The person in the back seat of the car jumped sky high and kept turning around and looking at us!
Told her that guy looked like a gopher that keeps poking his head out of the hole looking around.

Our new recruit with us is a LEO and he was laughing just as hard as we were.

Got to have a laugh after a bad run.

Was that legal? Don't you guys have a responsibility to always be professional, even when faced with those who aren't?

There used to be a guy that lived down the road from me and every time he drove by the house in his '63 Galaxy 500 he would hit his horn and it would very loudly sound the notes of "La Cucaracha" and it never stopped being funny.

Luca ask me that question when you are an AEMT or a Paramedic.
Maybe ask those people who refuse to pull to the side to let me pass with lights and sirens going with a PT with life threatening injuries why they refuse to yield and I cannot pass due to on coming traffic. The fun one was the one trying to race me.

Come wear my boots; IF YOU DARE!

The worse part is when you have to call your spouse to bring you a clean set of clothes because you are not too sure what is on them; you have a very good idea but are not looking too closely.

By the way I knew the kids in the car so that made it twice as funny!

Oh and that was the first run in which we took our Lucas device with us. Google that!

Well im not luca, but i have to agree with their point of view. First off thanks for your service, secondly im a fellow ff/emt so i can relate to your experiences that you described to luca. I agree that there are things that help relieve the stress of bad runs, and while this did sound funny, it prolly wasnt the right thing to do. Im not trying to start anything im just stating my opinion, not that its worth much. Just seems its not teaching the rookie the right thing, plus it aint the most professional move. Keep safe

I luv herfs it doesn't matter if someone is in your profession or not. There is a code of ethics and professionalism that you are supposed to uphold being a public servant. I personally think this post is very distasteful and an insult to the highly professional ff/emt's on this board and in general.

I thought it was funny and don't see where it's "unprofessional" in the slightest sense. Sounds like a few of yall need to lighten up an live just a little. No harm, no foul.

yea its a laugh riot but I bet you the vast majority of the true professionals in that field wont find it funny.. I guess I should drop a huge arse tree beside my customers house tomorrow to scare them so I can have something to laugh at.

Sure glad that I live in a small town. Sometimes our Sheriff department will escort the high school teams to the county line with lights and sirens blazing, just for the heck of it.

Well that's a little different sky. You might miss the yard and hit the house :lol2: :lol2: :lol2:

Sure its a laugh, but as far as being professional i dont think it is. The driver of the car was not in the right by no means, but what if the siren blast had scared them to the point they lost control and wrecked? That would of been a bad deal, for all involved. True grit i live in a small town as well and your reference to the sheriff escort happens here too, but thats really a totally different ball game, than the above situation.

That is what I was getting at. She can deflect the guilt by trying to cover it up with a pity party about how difficult her job is, and it is (when she takes it seriously), but she knows that she got shamed for stupidly bragging about something that was wrong.
TT, I think that I'd rather wait for the next bus to come along rather than take help from this broad after she caused me to wreck.

Yes sir! My daughter's basketball team won sectional title this year and got a police/ fire dept escort from the county line, through town and to the school...all with sirens blazing at 1030 at night. Can't beat small town living.

This is one of those deals where those of us in med profession or LE get a bad wrap. Does it happen? Umm yes. Every single day. Do most in these career fields openly talk about it? Not usually. It usually stays in the shop or garage. And rightfully so. Nothing to gain, but awful lot to lose.
