No help in the barn this morning...killer quail. Yeah, they give me a rush too.

If they are anything like the quail here, they flew away and sounded like a 100 cropdusters going out. Pretty birds, but man they make some noise getting up.
 
Not sure if they are Gambel's Quail or not but they are about half the size of the Gambels that I grew up with in the Arizona
desert. Almost to small to harvest. We do have a few phesant that come down to feed, kept about a half acre in heavy brush for them...the dern coyotes have really taken a toll on the population only had a couple hens this year along with the roosters. The owls take one every so often too.

They're more like Valley quail then gambles. Gambles have a red cap and kind of a shield shaped color marking on their breasts. Unless they were transplanted, gambels are inative to the southwest

Whatcha gonna do with them? Are you feeding them? So pretty! What kinds of sounds do they make? coo?
