Well we managed to survive herd health with minimal amounts of cussing and yelling. My girls were not very cooperative once i got them in the corral system.

Cows/heifers preg checked/vaccs. Heifer calves vaccs.. and given meds to abort just in case.

Then after a hard days work we came back to the house and had a few/lot of beverages with the good Doc. We had a great visit and shot the sh@t and I learned a lot more about the world of meds and all the hoopla..Will share later. :cowboy:

Oh, btw no one was open....so I only have 3 cows to ship as I chose not to breed them back this year...That is good news and bad news as I am keeping over 23 heifer calves ,half will be AI'd and the other half will be embryo recips..I think that is going to be too many head for me to look after (including the 75 bred head) and am thinking of getting rid of anyone that is a sh@t disturber in the handling system..Will have to do a lot of pondering in the next couple of weeks.. :?

Hey!! Good for you that no one was open! And now I can look forward to hearing all about your insane February subzero middle of the night checks!!! :lol2: It is always good to have your company and get the updates, sure helps time pass. Sure hope you kept the nifty calf hat you had last year. :pretty: Yes, get rid of trouble makers, it makes life so much easier.

Angie, I am not looking forward to those late nights and early mornings.. and those cold temps...
The AI'd cows start calving the middle of Jan and the rest start Feb 1st. Am always glad when I come in around midnight ,waiting for a cow to pop that baby out and can come on here and have someone to chat with, much better than TV plus if I sat in front of the TV on hubby's favorite chair I would be asleep in seconds.. :cowboy: I might get fired for sleeping on the job.. ;-)

As for the trouble makers ,I know someone around here that would even take time off work to haul them down the road..He even said a few times when he was bring the cows up through the alley "What the h@ll are you still doing here(to the cow),,hey, you said last year this one was going!" (to me) :lol2:

AC, I only lost my patience with him a couple of times, he however called my girls various names that I would never ever repeat..
