We have been having 33 degree days here. They have threatened thunder showers but nothing has come out of it. Grass was starting to burn off and it was a little odd that on a year with flooding we were worried about drought hitting next. BUT the guys came to do the fields (we hire out) and I thought, "At least we will have good hay for the winter!". They cut half of a field, have some machinery problems but come back yesterday and baled what they had cut and start cutting more. It was cooler than normal yesterday - only 29 and they were calling for 30% probablity of showers but when they call for 60% it doesn't rain so of course we all thought it was a safe day for cutting. Got the rest of one field done and started on another then the storm hit. Puddles everywhere. Hay laying in water. Why is it that as soon as we start cutting it starts raining? :x
I keep telling myself at least it was good for the grass but that is not helping much. If it had only waited a few days....
The wonderful world of ranching.
