Didnt know where to post this so i thought I would over here. Since cold weather has arrived I am looking at getting a heater for my 8FT. stock tank. Just curious whats the best out there. Ive seen these floating an sumersible ones. Temps are getting in to the teens at night. I am sure will get colder as the months go on. Thanks guys.

I persoanlly like the sumersible ones. Cows play with the floating ones too much

are the submersible ones ok to use with plastic tanks as well as galvanized?
As long as the have the guard on them they work fine. That's all we have are rubbermaid tanks. They few we use during the winter work great with the guarded submersibles. More of a problem trying to keep the water lines feeding the tank unfrozen then tank problems

Have had 3 floaters in rubbermaids - they all eventually sank and malfunctioned - this thread has me looking for a caged one, but with global warming and all, last year we got away with nothing in the loafing barn tank.
