It tugs at your heartstrings for sure but there's something about it that feels a little too contrived for me.

Who would make or let a little kid put down a calf like that?

I am not trying to be mean or callous but this piece just doesn't work for me...........and that DOES NOT mean I don't love the Lord!

I sure won't disagree with that.

It is good to see a child believe in God this way, but I agree with 3way it is a bit contrived. Also why was the cow with the broken back not destroyed by the father the day it was found, if it couldn't be fixed?
I also thought some of which the father said a bit blasphemous. JMO.
