spiders

Finally got the hedge apples and put them around. But was watching tv last night and one of our kittens seen one crawling across the floor. Well, the kitten thought it was just another fun toy and decided to play with it, the spider kept it going for at least 5 min., and after the kitten was done, the kitten ate it. I am beginning to like the kittens. At least there is no spider to pick up afterwards!!

;-)

Princess, spiders are a good source of protein for your kittens! :)

JO, the permethrin I get is labeled for many things, including spiders. That being said, I may have access to a stronger concentration than the over the counter chemical. I haven't checked the over the counter. Also, some chemicals may not be labeled for everything it will kill, scorpions come to mind, because they are very slow to die and very resilient(sp.) so the companies do not want the liability. Some labels include them. My permethrin does.

If you can get Chlorpyrifos then you might consider stocking up on it.

Another thing to consider is the PH factor in your water. If the PH is not in the range of the chemical you are using it will render the chemicals almost useless, but that is another topic for another day.

well, you can bet by my user name I am not going to advocate poisons.

Vacuum is your best weapon. Put a mothball or two in the bag if you are truly worried about them escaping and just have to use some kind of chemical.

Spiders = fly control around here. I take the webs (and occupants) down with a broom or the vacuum cleaner when I am expecting company, otherwise I don't give them much thought.

I see there is even a black widow in one corner of the living room. we never used to have them around here because it freezes a few times good in the winter. Climate change, I guess - haven't had a hard freeze in a long time. Gonna catch me slacking on insulating the pipes I bet.

I use the spay at Wal Mart for indoor/outdoor.Make sure you wear a resperator when spraying. My old ranch house was built I think back in the 1890'S.Yeah both me and my wife hate the spiders and scorpions.Construction starts next week on a new metal frame home.

I would a lot rather live peacefully and sensibly with spiders than spray poison all over my living quarters. The long term effects of such practices will rear their heads someday.

You have probably noticed that all humans experience a sense of revulsion and an automaticaly jump back. Thats because in the ancient past those that did not pull back got bitten and died out along with all their potential offspring.

So you and those that forcefully overcome natural reactions are throwbacks and you or your offspring will get bitten one day soon and there goes your potential .

Its interesting to try to imagine the multiple billions of different types of individual that might have still existed except that they had one deadly flaw.

With apologies to those religious people out there who of course all have the correct religion ,and everybody else's religion is unfortunately wrong . I'm an Agnostic He He He

So a suggestion for spiders is to go outside at night with a torch and can of fly spray and if they are web builders they will be sitting in their webs - one short spray and presto . Do it on moonlight nights .

The other one is sump oil and creosote (just a little) or whatever other poison you prefer and spray the bottom edge outside of the house forming a line around the house they must cross over. Cut back all trees and bushes that lean on the house and put a squirt on anything that attaches to the house .Do this first before attacking inside .

Then when you clean up the inside there will not be more coming in from outside
