Some Good News

Help Support CattleToday:

I like being able to fill my truck up for $50, and kick Russia in the knuts at the same time. Feels good.

I'm with Deepsouth on this.. it may not be as rosy as it seems. It could be the start of long term russia-china contracts and possibly an alliance, which could be scary.
I found that article terribly written, while perhaps factually correct, it's a american nationalist piece of crap..

The truth is we're all jealous that Putin has a pair of balls.. it's more than we can say about the Canadian or US heads of state.

Well my friend I guess as long as I have an American Nationalist A$$ there is a place for your Socialist lips.......and for the record not all of us have balls the size of our presidents little huevos. BTW it sounds like maybe you are more than a little familiar with Putin's junk....just sayin.

Now on a more serious note

I seriously doubt that a one of us on this forum wishes Canada one ounce of harm. I personally have a ton of respect for your country and the vast majority of your people(excluding Rob Ford of course). So no more nationalist whining please.

.........and for the record I have waited for this moment for a very long time. The thought of being out from under the Saudi bootheel is like a dream come true. Putin, Chavez, the Saudi's and all the little despots that own more oil than common decency can kiss my wrinkled old American Nationalistic rearend.

BTW I guess you missed the part about how China may actually cut their carbon emissions by switching from coal to a cleaner burning fuel sourse. Not there's some truly terrible news if I ever heard it. Now the real bonus here is it makes operating these truly disgusting eyesore windmills down here absolutely not feasible so the proliferation of that border to border greenie art may actually subside because of the oil glut.

Dang, I'm the 6th post in, and im gonna deal the death blow to the thread. We're getting bad about this. Many of our founding fathers promoted American Nationalism, and denounced immigration. Their theory was that if people came to our country, that had not fought to achieve freedom here, that it would be the death of democracy. Crazy notion I know.

There are few Americans I haven't gotten along with on a face to face basis.. I just have a problem with nationalists of any flavor.

I had a laugh the other day when our Prime minister Harper apparently kinda told Putin "You better stay out of the Ukraine.. Or else.."
It was like a little yappy dog telling the Grizzly bear to stay out of the yard.

One thing about the despots and dictators.. though I may not agree with their tactics, they want to stay there for the long haul... with no term limits... They're going to make policies that are good (at least for them) for the long term... The way our democratic countries are set up the leaders let up policies that make them look good while they're in power.. Case and point, Clinton introduced a new way of calculating employment rates.. Those that are no longer on welfare or employment insurance are no longer considered 'unemployed'... the result was the statistics suddenly looked really good!

China switching to cleaner burning fuel is certainly good news for the greenies.. but that could come and bite our wrinkled arses as well... When prices go back up (not if, but when), there'll be more customers for it, and we'll be paying more in the future.

Have you seen the blooper reels of Rob Ford? there were some doozies in there!

And on Putin being a troublemaker.. Do you think he hasn't been provoked and prodded? There's so much behind the scenes BS and slanted media coverage to deliberately make him look bad... I'm don't want to say he's a shining example of a human or anything else, but when a Russian is a nationalist it's a terrible thing (on the world stage), but when an American is, that's OK.

As they say.. don't believe everything you hear, and only half of what you read.

Using that line of thinking would have limited the life of this country to a very few short years after the originals died off. Most fought simply to get here period.

No I think he is an imperialist blowhard ashole who would really like to put the Soviet Union back together, one country at a time. You actually seem to have a man crush on him.

BTW does it taste kind of salty?

Thanks for clearing that up!

drumroll..................................................................................yep!

On a more serious note countries are like people. The ones who are strong and project strength physical and or mental strength are respected and left alone most of the time. The ones who are the opposite get kicked around sooner or later....

.....and do I think the USA is better than other countries, yes in many ways we are but we are sure enuf not perfect and we should not believe that we are. are we more important than other countries...yes in many ways we are.

BTW Nesi if you think being weak and letting people run over you is a good idea ask ALL the europeans how they like their muslim problem. The muslims have actually done them more damage than they have us. Because of two things 1. they REALLY don't want to pick their own lettuce and 2. for the most part they have balls like bb's(maybe not the Brits).

It could start a war.

Let me explain why I think this could cause a war.

I heard once and this was a couple of years ago that if oil dropped below $80/barrel and stayed low for an extended period Russia's economy would collapse. If that happens and they get desperate they make make a move on the middle east. Iraq would be a prime target and then Israel.

How would making a move on the Middle East, especially Israel, help their economy?

Believe it or not Russia is producing a good bit of oil but low oil prices hurts that production. To take Iraq would give them more control over the oil market. To take Israel would give them a warm water port and possible untapped oil reserves in isreal.

I am no expert on this its just something I heard.

It's my understanding, that Israel has a relatively small crude oil reserve and potential--same with Israel's surrounding neighbors Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, and Egypt, not that there hasn't been plenty of exploration in the area--it just isn't there. Most of the mideast oil and gas is over on the Persian Gulf side, not on the Mediterranean side I assume because of geological reasons. Israel lists very close to last in the top 100 producers in the world, and so close to the bottom of % of world production that it is listed as zero percent.
Russia hasn't forgotten it's bad experience in Afghanistan, and I doubt they would want to try that type endeavor again any time soon.
They already have port of call agreements in Egypt, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Syria, without having to do any shooting.

I didn't think about Putin's desire to have a warm water port but it's pretty crazy to think anyone would want Israel for their oil especially since they don't have any or none of any significance.
