Good to hear she's better.

On a side note, I'm really *not* a fan of Science Diet. Like the ingredients on Iams, Purina, Diamond, etc a lot better than SD. I'm feeding carnivores, not cows... whatever dog food you go with, the ingredients list shouldn't start with "corn."

Milkmaid I agree. On the advice of my friend who raises Bloodhounds I am transitioning them to Bil Jac, it is loaded with meat and corn is way down the line. FWIW I used to use a lamb and rice dogfood and one day all 3 of my dogs started pooping blood literally at the same time. No more of that for me!

Don't know much about dog food but we've always fed the pyrenees Purina Pro Plan (Not made by Purina Mills Inc). Works great for them. Hard to figure Science diet since they make about 50 different dry dog foods. Purina Mills dog food is just more junk and Ol' Roy from Wal Mart is a dog killer as far as I'm concerned.

Here's a link that rates dog foods from one star to 5 stars and you can read their thoughts on each brand. Most of the nationwide brands are 3 stars or less.

Iam's puppy chow smells lite rotten cheese days after the bag is opened, science diet smells like dog shyt before it goes thru the dog. This Bil Jac is a totally different process and the puppies are rockin since I put them on it. I do add a 1/2 can of SD wet puppy food to it for some added meat.

3way I think Iams is made by P&G. May have some cheese in it. :lol2: Wish wwe had BilJac down this way. I might give it a shot. The only pic of it on their site makes it look like a pellet instead of an extruded nugget. Is it?

It is a pellet. My breeder friend recommends that i mix 1/3 of a good quality nugget. I also am using pro plan beef and rice so when i convert my older dogs i will us 1/3 of the same thing i m using now. BTW the puppies are doing great on it and their droppings look and smell 10 times better. They are healthy and have a ton of energy.

Pet Smart carries it here so I might give a small bag a try for Nikki. I am starting to get a real collection of dog foods in my storage room . :roll: Thank goodness we have another dog that is not fussy as well as family who has dogs that I can donate the food too.
The good thing about the expensive stuff from the vet clinic is that they will guarantee it if the dogs do not like it and refund your money.
I wanted to donate some to the no kill shelter but they will only take canned food or sealed dry food, nothing that has been opened. I understand as there are some real degenerates out there , ruins even the best intentioned motives though.
 
We tried Bil-Jac with our English bulldog and she farted us out of the house. Of course, it's hard to find a good food that doesn't do that to her.

Our bulldog used to fart if she took a deep breath of filtered air. They are no indicator of the quality of any food.LOLOLOL

That's good...one sign of a good dog food other than the dog looking great and being full of energy is the size and freguency of the droppings.
