A crusty old Marine Sergeant Major was in the hospital for an emergency appendectomy. The doctor had completed the surgery and was ready to close the incision. At that moment the SgtMaj woke up, sat up, and said "What's going on? Where am I?"
The doctor replied "You've just had an operation and I'm about to sew you back up."
The SgtMaj said "Give me that needle - I'll do it myself."
"You're still groggy from the drugs you were given and besides, I don't think you can do it", said the doctor.
"Listen, sonny. I'm a Sergeant Major in the United States Marine Corps and I can do anything I damn well please!"
The young doctor, fresh out of med school, knew when he was beat. He handed over the needle and thread and said,
