Her sweetnesty has put in for a new car and wants to go look at them while we are near a large city. "What type vehicle do you want?", I ask. "Don't know. Want to look at all of them and get ideas." This being Black Friday and all. Mother of God please grant me serenity. Spending the day elbow to elbow aimlessly looking at vehicles isn't my cup of tea. The things we do for love but given a choice I would rather be strung up by my toes and beaten with a wet carp.

Jo you should have encouraged her to do her homework on the computer for a few weeks and then buy one after the first of the year wheneverybody is broke.

Same boat here. I think my 15 yr younger than me wife has finally come to accept I ain't gonna be around forever and is returning to school to become an RN, and needs/wants a good MPG car to make the 62 mile round trip to Kingwood every day. This is a GOOD thing--I get my truck back.
Bad thing is I set the limits. It has to be a US brand and CAN'T be a Govt Motors vehicle, whcih leaves Ford and maybe Chrysler.
We'll see how it goes next week.

Ford is hit or miss lately. Chevy, well there was that whole bailout thing
Toyota and Honda...of the 2 I would say Toyota. More made here and just as reliable.
And one more thing, Jo...no one said she HAS to have a new car. But I guess it depends on who runs the house and how much you enjoy your peace and quiet

Well I found what I wanted but it was either too tall, too short, not the right color, not the magical fuel mileage, too much technology, too little technology, too much leather not enough leather nada nada nada.

I learned something though. Vehicles have gotten expensive. :shock:

I wonder if they are close to our prices now , meaning they are ridiculously high ! :help:
Mr HD and I were contemplating buying a vehicle from the States next year .Then flying out to visit some dear friends that we have met through here and then driving the new vehicle back . A friend of mine bought a Lexis last year and she saved $17000 by buying it there ,she flew out to her folks winter place in Arizona where the car was delivered and then drove it home.

3way is right on.
Do the computer thing first. Have your numbers and game plan before you go anywhere near a dealer.
If you go to dealer and she says something like, "Well, I don't know",, or "I'm not sure", or anything along those lines, then you are dead meat.

And don't forget a new car can be a newer used car. Er, ah, excuse me--a newer, pre-owned car.

I bought my last pickup in KC over the phone and the dealer picked me up at the airport and hauled me to the dealership to close the deal. Saved at least $5000 and paid 1/2 as much tax

:D Include the name of the mortuary which will be conducting your last rites. I'd like to send an offering to whatever cause you choose.
The ex was really big on "Just surprise me". :bang: :bang: You could be sure it would not be satisfactory, no matter what.

I'm with 3-way on this as well....if at all possible. Husband did this back in '07. He did his homework, lots of phone calls, little bit on the computer, visited dealerships and finally got what he was looking for. A basic truck w/out the bells and whistles. It makes a difference.

Besides, I can't think of too many worse things to do the day after Thanksgiving than shopping......eeeesh.....good luck.

My how times change. I bought a new 1984 Ford truck in Ontario and saved 2k. And my late uncle Loyal was a big wig for Ford.
He could not believe I could by a truck cheaper than they would sell him one for here in the states.
Vehicle shopping is very stressful, Good Luck.
