Septic Systems

Well don't feel bad. It wasn't too long ago I had the old sucker truck out. He said all was well after draining. About two months later it started backing up again. I opened the tank and it was full. Now like alabama said there is a Tee to let the liquid out to the drain pipes but it shouldn't get TP because the inlet is below the surface of the water. For a good functioning septic tank the fluid will up to about a foot to a foot and a half from the top. If it gets to the very top it is NOT draing for some reason.

If your tank gets full and that Tee is not plugged, something is FUBAR in the drain system.

I rented a little track hoe and dug mine up to find right at the discharge of the tank it was bound up with roots. The stupid idiots had not cemented the joint. Well since I had the track hoe I dug it all up and replaced the two drain pipes anyway which was good as I found they had not sealed the joints and they were root bound also.

I have a black water tank and a grey water tank. I got an estimate to replace the drain field for the black tank and it started at $3500 from a guy who does it on the side to $6000 for a real business. I rented the track hoe and bought all new pipe and the total was less than $600 and it took me about 5 hours.

Have any of yall had problems with certain brands of toilet paper not breaking down. I have spent the last three days repairing and cleaning out the system.
The Sear Roebuck catalog is the only one that clogs here.

Seriously, no. They all work the same here. But I flush a pack of yeast about once a month. Don't know if it helps but I ain't had any problems in years.

I always use RidX ,wife went to using Charmin it wasn't breaking it down at all. All the Charmin squezable soft crap that was in the house went in the burn barrel this afternoon.

Caustic

well I dont really know what your answer is ,but better get it fixed soon.Nothing meaner than a wife whose toilet wont work

carl

She doesn't necessarily have to be a wife - she could also be a daughter! We've been fighting with my septic tank and bathroom plumping for 3 or 4 days now, and my patience is just about gone! I can live without a lot of things, but a bathroom is NOT one of them. :x :x

My dad has the solution to the TP problem - no one is allowed to flush it!
no matter if you used it for #1 or #2 or #94 for that matter - it goes in the trash can next to the toilet - they've lived here since 96 and haven't had the system pumped yet, I guess he is right but I don't have to like it!

It probably keeps identity thieves out of your garbage as well.

WOW what a post. I had no idea that there was so much to toiled paper. The only thing better than reading about this would have been being there for it all.

Might as well get yourself a bucket of corncobs and not even use the paper.

My Cousin did some missionary work over in some Asian country. He said they squatted like you said on the floor or whole but then had a bowl of water that you, used your hand to wipe and then cleaned it in the water. He said it was an insult to offer the left hand (or maybe right) to a person because it was custom to use that certain hand to wipe with.

sshhh... don't say it out loud - he might hear you - he grew up poor and doesn't like to "waste" money on things like getting septic systems pumped

Speaking of plumping problems--Reminds me

I walked in to the local coop store ,my friend curly is sitting there ,looking sad . I said; how you doing Curly ,he said I got plumbing problems ---I replied ,well you better get it fixed cause my experience is in this country it will freeze up on new years eve, that always gets to 40 below .With a far away look he says ya it starts right here on my stomach and goes all the way round to my back.Just then TV wilton comes in says its your prostate thats what it is. --How do you fix that I asked ,TV says I had 78 radio avtive capsules put up there ----how do they get them there ,I asked --with these long needles about ten inches long .They push them right up through your scrotum and then they all release at different times,It's the end of your sex life by the way (Curly wieghts 350 pounds and is 62 years old so I dont know how active hes been really ---but still) tv says mine was over anyway when I had that kidney transplant. I Glance at curly His eye balls are as big as pie plates and a little pale .Just then the young guy who runs the store says What are you old buggers talking about shakes his head and says corner gas (TV show) has nothing over this place. Curly never mentioned his plumbing problems again ---likely went and got a second opinin
