Very unexpectedly, I have a new calf on the ground. Turns out, I didn't get my young bull out of the pasture soon enough. Now I have a baby bull calf that has the same grand sires (the dam and the sire have the same daddy).
My guess is I will need to steer this guy since he is so closely inbred. Is that correct or can this bull become a great producer? I have tried to keep related cattle apart when it comes to breeding.
This was most definitely a mistake but at least I discovered that my young herd sire is indeed doing his job!

no need to automatically steer him, evaluate him critically using the same criteria as your other bullcalves, he might just be THAT ONE.

If he turns out good, I would not hesitate to use him if you liked what you had in the common ancestor
