Heavies were bringing 750 to 950

Good cow/calf were staring at 850 and up I bid on a lot of 3 cow calf pairs stopped at 1050 a pair.

Came home with an empty trailer again.

Here was one of the local barns here, one of the better barns here. How do the calves compare?

Came home with an empty trailer again.

Wise move Caustic.

Friday February 23 I went to the Dublin Sale to get some splits for my nurse cow. We were only there for about 6 hours and didn't stick around for the calves. Some decent animals came through at very reasonable prices. There were a few VERY high quality cows that could turn your head pushing up to $900.

I haven't been speculating much at the sale barns lately but will be soon.

Highest priced cows through the barn were tigers and red baldies with blacks in a distant last unless it had ear. Chars crosses were about middle leaning to the higher side.
Interesting trend on the blacks.

Ears were cheap in the fall.
Maybe stockers are getting ready for the heat. Kinda of early though. The eared cattle will do fine now thats it's warming up.

Cow/Calf and heavy bred are up here.

Saw 14 Char bulls go through today and 1 Brangus.

Calfs up a little from last week.

CB,,,don't you see the price is normally higher on the weekend sales vs the weekday sales.

BHB, is the salebarn in Mineral Wells any better than the one in Cleburne? We quit going to the one in Cleburne.

Alice

The last 3 weeks prices are trending higher across the board here. Blacks still in the top money. Spring fever maybe? The grass is greening up.

Not at Livingston most folks around here are as poor as church mice

Caustic,
For some reason I had it in my head that you went to the Navasota sale barn. What was the run like at Livingston?

A friend of mine made Livingston for several weeks last fall buying lightweight feeder calves. He really liked the calves and made it up until Thanksgiving when the runs stated dropping off and it was not worth the 170 mile drive down there.

You can add Gonzales Livestock Market to the list of Saturday cattle sale day. I heard Schullenburg (Sp) also on Saturday but have never been.

Numbers were down most all looked good as we had plenty grass and hay in this area.
